I was wondering whether I should get SuperNOVA or not. My friend has it and he said that it would be way too easy for me (he can barely do beginner, and I currently do 9-footers on my old Konamix). I thought this was odd because it is the most recent release so I would assume they'd make it pretty hard. My other friend (who can do 7-footers at best) said that even he found it easy, being able to do the "second-to-hardest difficulty".

Do you have to unlock the harder songs first or is it really as easy as they say? If it does get harder, by how much? Would it keep me from wanting a new installment for longer than Konamix did? (I ended up wanting a new one after only a few weeks...)

If you can do 9-footers, SuperNOVA shouldn't get boring too quickly because it has several 9s and 10s.

If you want a challenge, get on eBay and get ITG PS2 (it's the only way to get it anymore). ITG is much better than DDR. Better music, better stepcharts, and it goes up to 13 in difficulty. It will keep you busy for a long time.

Well, I haven't been playing for very long. It shouldn't take long for me to get better than 9-footers... I'd like a DDR that is really, really hard. What's the hardest version?

Try that.

Don't know of a DDR game that would fit your needs.

Interesting...

Of course, I could just get a USB mat and play flashflashrevolution.com.

Or Stepmania.

Although I had a RedOctane Ignition and it didn't work right.

Says you. Nearly everyone likes DDR music more and I agree with 'em. ITG's music is okay, but not nearly as well-done as DDR's.

Yes, SuperNOVA is by far the most difficult DDR. A good buy indeed.

The default songlist is small and full of easy songs. Most of the difficult ones need to be unlocked. SN has a collection of difficult 10s (whether or not they're actually worth playing is an entirely different subject, but they certainly are difficult). There are plenty of solid 9-footers too; you just have to unlock them. If you're looking for a difficult DDR game, I think Supernova is a good choice.

Stop. I think ITG is an awesome game, but for god's sake, keep your fanboyism to yourself.

More than half of the 8 footers on SN are pretty much 9 footers anyway, so SN is a good bet. And it's not gonna be "too easy" unless you're the kind of person that dismisses something buttocks "too easy" for you because you can pass it with an A.

Dude, shut up about ITG. The guy's asking if SuperNOVA is worth it, not if ITG is the best four panel dancing game out there.

To the TC: SuperNOVA is by no means too easy. Your friends are playing on Standard and Beginner, so they really have no idea; there are plenty of challenging 8s and 9s, as well as eleven 10s (two 10-difficulty stepcharts for each of the five boss songs and Xepher Challenge).

Also, lol at

Actually, there's 11; the five boss songs and Xepher Challenge. And if you count the online exclusive Trim, there's 12.

Ah, I forgot about Xepher. I've never played online mode, so I don't know what that last one is.

And think about this: Extreme AC had 8 10-foot stepcharts (Max 300, Maxx Unlimited, TLoM, Sakura, bag, PS, PSM, and PSMO).

It has a good songlist and it's full of challenge, but expect to have some patience when it comes to unlocking.

Get Supernova. It's actually a pretty decent US console release, compared to its godawful predecessors Extreme1&2. And yes, there are quite a few hard songs in there to get the ball rolling for you.

P.S.- If you want more difficulty, why not learn Doubles? E1.gif

im trying to learn doubles, and unlike singles, it actually requires a bit of thought to what you are doing instead on mindless arrow smash

I like bolth Supernova and ITG, It pisses me off that Konami sued RoXor. They're bolth very good games. DDR supernova for the people who are starting 4-panel dancing and ITG for the incredably advanced people who get bored of DDR and AAA everything like on 8x shuffle Dark, reverse.
