How do you fix a TX1000?

Well my friend ICKER(hes on this site lawls), he might give me his broken TX1000 and i was wondering how you fix it. heres what he said on aim!

SS13icker (6:50:44 PM): well
SS13icker (6:50:45 PM): one of them
SS13icker (6:50:48 PM): the down arrow I think
SS13icker (6:50:51 PM): or one arrow
SS13icker (6:50:53 PM): goes off
SS13icker (6:50:57 PM): when I don't hit it
SS13icker (6:51:07 PM): so I get like 15 pad errors a song

HELP MEEEEE! do i need a new sensor or soemthingas?

I've had a lot of issues with mine, and basically, do the following for overactive sensors:

1. REPLACE ALL UPPER CONTACTS
Sheet steel, pennies, even tin cans, but the foil = fail.
2. MAKE SURE ALL WIRES ARE PROPERLY CONNECTED TO THE BOTTOM SENSORS.
There should be a white coated wire and a yellow coated wire attached to each of the 2 contact areas on the bottom sensor. Make sure they don't touch anywhere, and wipe of the contacts like you'd clean a pair of glasses (except don't pick it up and wipe it with your shirt; use a clean sock or something.), but know that the discolouration won't go away.
3. IF THE PANEL STILL GIVES YOU ISSUES:
Open up the bottom (you'll have to remove the foam on the bottom; it won't harm the pad in any way, but make sure you leave it on around the borders. It's also perfectly alright to remove and preferably replace the 1/4" plywood board on the bottom.) and you'll see the chip. Make sure all wires are connected to the part they ought to be connected to.

Also, if you don't wind up getting it, I'd be happy to buy it from your friend and scrap the parts. (as long as he isn't asking more than $50 for it, since I can get scrap tx1000's on ebay for $70 new.)

The good thing with dance pads are the fact that you can always fix them. The technology is so simple that everyone can understand it. The only problem is to get the pad open. Since the pad isn't made to be opened, you need to cut the wood covering the bottom.
