Hello! I am going to soon try and make the Riso Pad (http://royconejo.host.sk/piso-pad1-en.html). I have access to most of the supplies, but I am wondering instead of using the expensive Aluminum Foil Tape, is it possible to use Aluminum foil? I am trying to save money here, so what ever is cheap helps.

Thanks a lot!
(as well, would anyone happen to know where I can get the DB15 Male Connector?)

the tape also rubs off over time, unless there's some extremely high quality stuff out there. what you could do is use some flat metal, like from cookie cans or something.

you can probably get a db15 connector at a local electronics or computer store. Personally, i'd reccommend buying a cheap 4-button gamepad/joystick and wiring it only to the buttons since you don't need to bother looking for resistors.

EDIT: nevermind....just found a db15 extension cable for $.49 CAD at the source. probably a lot cheaper to use that.

I have a joystick i dont use i could hook up that to the buttons then i could use it for counter strike (Sorry if off topic) I could walk with the pad and aim with the joy stick it would be so awsome

I used a joystick I found in the bottom of my closet.

Thanks a lot for your replies, guys.

Actually, at my local Canadian Tire, the tape was 11 dollars!
So I guess I'll try the foil, if that doesn't work than I can buy the tape.

Actually, for the DB15, I need it to be solderable. If I get an extention cable, they how will I solder the CAT5 and resistors on there? (Speaking of resistors, I already bought some so =S no need to destroy any other joysticks)

Also, has anyone actually made the Piso Pad sucessfully? I don't want to waste resources on something that doesn't work!

Thanks a lot,
-Omy
