So i just decided to get back into stepmania (dont have a ps2 or xbox) and now im thinking about buying a foam pad, i have an old Ps2-USB converter but that works randomly (EMS) so i was about to forget about buying a pad until i found out that the RO ignition is USB ready now, but i was wondering how it works for the PC? does it work good, (like i know some ps2-USB adaptors were not compatible with stepmania) i also looked at the tutorial vid on RO's website and they didnt mention the PC USB connectivity.
so i just wanted to hear your opinions, confirm it works for the PC and if the purchase is worth it before i get back into DDR. thanks! |

I've heard the BNS imitation is a lot better.
Granted, I don't own either of them,but whatever. _________________

I have an ignition 3.0 with a USB adaptor for StepMania. It works as good as can be expected, being from RedOctane StepMania is just a little sluggish at points, so having really good timing is important. _________________

I've tried to hook my RO3 up multiple times for SM, and the down arrow never registers when I try to map the buttons. Everything else will be it reacts like there is no down sensor, which I know is not true. It's probably a hit or miss. _________________

I'm confused. Isn't the Ingnition 3 compatable with USB out of the box? Also how bad is your PC that Stepmania is sluggish?
And at OP: WHY DOES EVERYONE WITH AN IGNITION FEEL LIKE THEY DESERVE THEIR OWN THREAD _________________

Ok. 1, he asked how the ignition works with the PC, and I mentioned how mine has the USB and works great.
2, I have no idea what is wrong with my computer, but the scrolling becomes slow and choppy during the middle of the song, then goes back to smooth scrolling. I have a Gateway E-4100 with a 3.5 gHz processor. How can it do that? Do I have too many things running in the backround?? (Not including AIM) _________________

what kinda video card is in there...and if you have AIM up it could do it whenever you get an IM....that has more to do with your RAM than the processer speed anyway.
anyhow, dont run aim while you use stepmania. If that doesnt work, you might wanna have someone take a look at it. _________________

probably the video card as j-pop mentioned. i'm guessing it's a crappy intel one, or maybe you haven't installed good drivers for it. |
