I'm in the process of buying a metal pad for my mother. I've already built two for myself, but once I move out of here I'm taking them and she doesn't wanna shell out the money for me to build one for her so I suggested to just buy a metal one. She doesn't play hardcore like me but she insisted on getting a metal on instead of a soft one. With light play not very often, a cheaper metal pad shouldn't have too many problems too soon. There are two that I've found that are in the price range we're looking at:

1. Ninja Metal Pad
Source: eBay
Linkage: CLICK

2. Cyphergames Metal Pad
Source: cyphergames.com
Linkage: cyphergames.com

Just looking at the two, I originally suggested the ninja pad to her and after doing some research, seeing that it's a TX-1501, and reading this review on it, I leaned even more towards it. Obviously it's not the greatest pad, but for the light amount of play she'll be doing I'm sure it'll be fine. The only slight issue I have with it is that it's from eBay. I looked around, but I couldn't find another TX-1501 at that price with that shipping. Now I use eBay frequently, usually selling, so I don't have a problem with eBay and the seller of that particular auction I listed above has a good rating. I'm really just worried about shipping time and package quality. Not so much the shipping time because she's pretty patient, but I don't want the poopy cracked up when it gets to me. So if anyone has bought from that particular seller OR if there's a more reliable seller also selling the TX-1501 for around the same price, let me know.

As far as the other pad goes, I don't have a problem with it. Price is good. Shipping is good. I've never ordered from CypherGames before though. So typically, I've got the same issues: shipping time and shipping quality. I ask the same, if anyone has ever used them, specifically for pads, please enlighten me as to what I should expect.

Also, I haven't seen a review on the CypherGames pad so I'm not sure which if it's better than the TX-1501. If anyone could link me to a review, or give me their recommendation as to which one I should get, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

tahts the cypher games pad (AKA TX 1000)

its shit

then again the other one is shit too

dont think that becuase your mom isnt going to be playing much they will last longer a healthy percentage of these are DOA and ive only ever heard of the TX 4000 lasting more than a few songs before coughing out bad arrows

if she is price concious Ebay for a new red octain ignition 2.0 make sure its teh 2.0 and not he 3.0 as the 3.0 had a major quality slip

Yeah, after looking at what I know now is the TX-1000, I'm leaning more towards the 1501. From what I've read of the review it seems to fit what we're looking for and after hearing J-Pop's testimony, it puts even more faith into that decision. The seller seems to have good feedback on most of the pads he sells, so that relieves a bit of worry. I'm still waiting on the rest of the money from my mom so if anyone else has something to say about the 1000 or something that would make me go with the 1000 instead of the 1501, feel free to say so. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure I'll go with the 1501.

i will like to point out hat j pop for life tenes to disagree with almost all the people in this forum about opinions on pads not that this is nessicerily a negitive just that when it comes to buying a hard metal pad you really need to talk with a lot of people and not just jump at the first person who agrees with you

no, i just hate it when people say pads suck solely based on the fact they dont have the words "cobalt" and "flux" in them.

I like to state the hell out of my point.

True. Now I realize that she's not spending much on a pad, neither is she a hardcore player. She'd actually probably be fine with a soft pad, but she insists on getting a metal one. Therefore, I'm not looking for a Colbalt Flux quality one. Just a cheap, lower end one. I'm pretty sure we're sticking with that same price (roughly $150 USD after shipping) and I can't find any other pads within that price range. Therefore, the 1000 and 1501 were the only ones I found that would fit that. So really, I guess I'm just questioning which of the two is a better deal, quality and life span wise. I know they're not the best of the best pads, but just between those two. I'm not jumping on the first mention of praise either and I've already read a decent amount of information on both pads. I was already leaning towards the 1501 and still am. Although, I'm not ordering just yet in case I see some bad information on the 1501 or someone suggests I go with the 1000 with substantial reason.
