Computer or Pad Malfunction

Hey everybody, I'm new to DDR Freak, but I have a question that might answer many people's worries.

Recently, I bought my Red Octane Ignition Pad 3.0 and it arrived today. After I put the foam pieces together, zipped the case over it, and plugged it into my usb port, my computer gave me the message that it could not install the hardware and that some or all of the hardware may not function properly. I have tried looking for Windows drivers, Stepmania drivers, and ever tried updating different aspects of my computer.

My Computer Specifics

Compaq Presario
2.4 Ghz
512 MB Ram
Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB
Soundblaster Audigy
120 GB Hard Drive

Somebody please help me!

* Yes, I've tried playing and messing with the controls. Do I have to enable anything in the controls? o.O

** Yes, the usb port works for everything else. EG : mp3 player

Did you actually try to play or did you give up when you got the error message?

is the USB post functioning properly? Some times its the port.

wanna start a compaq presario club? I have one only mine sucks A LOT more!!

anyhow, the only things i can think of are this...

1. Are you running windows XP? If not, you need to for the RO pads.
2. Do you have USB 2.0? This probably isnt the problem, but it just might.
3. Does you pad work on a PS2 or XBOX? If it works on PS2 but not Xbox, that little cord thingy that goes to the xbox could be mess up.

I am running windows xp, i have usb 2.0, and it works on my ps2. (I don't have xbox.)
