The other day while I was playing SM, I was FCing a song, when one of the female characters appeared in the bottom right corner of the screen and said "Toastyâ¼" or something like that. I didn't get a good look at her, but I'm sure she was one of the characters in the background imagne in the high score screen (the one where you put in your initials) in the 5thMIX theme (when this happened I was using the 5thMIX theme)
So what the hell is this?

There's some info about toasties on the Stepmania site. Basically it's a graphic that appears when you get 250 Perfects or Marvellouses in a row.

and if you go to the options you can turn it off by turning off easter eggs

I get it now. I looked it up and stuff and it all makes sence (sorta).
Charmy doesn't get it though, its MY job to randomly yell out strange things.

It's also a reference to the old Mortal Kombat games. In Mortal Kombat 2 (and 3 I think), sometimes, when one player hit the other with an uppercut, a picture of one of the game's programmers would appear in the lower right hand corner of the screen and say "Toasty!". At this point, if you hit I think 2P Start, you got teleported to a bonus stage. My memory is vague on it, though. Was never much of a Mortal Kombat player.

it says Toasty! after you land a strong uppercut , and Frosty! when you do somthing with Sub-Zero (can't rember what though)
