Hi so basically I have this DDR metal pad that a friend of mine modified to use ethernet cable. He put an ethernet jack on the pad, and then he wired up an ethernet cable from a 3rd party psx controller to plug into the pad and it worked pretty well but unfortunately I lost the controller he wired up and the little piece paper we wrote down to say which wire on the cable goes to where on the pad.

Does anyone know how I could use a multimeter or an ohmmeter to check the connections on the ddr pad ethernet socket to see which button goes to which wires?

Basically I'm not sure what settings and what not I'd use on the multimeter.

If anyone has any ideas that'd be great thanks!

assuming you used a main ground line for the buttons....

i'd stand on one of the buttons, connect the multi/ohmmeter to two of the wires on the ethernet cable to find a connection. once you found a matching pair, stand on another button and move only one ohmmeter wire to find a connection. if you don't, then go back to the two wires for the first button, and move the other ohmmeter wire. then go on to the next buttons

in general, which ever ethernet wire you keep using for all the buttons is your ground wire. once you've found your ground, then it's pretty easy to map all the buttons
