okay, lately, I have been trying Utopia and charlene and still can't do them, because I cannot step fast enough, I have the stamina. Like, I can do Walking on Fire, Remember December, CryOsleep, and without using the bar for most of the song. Most of remember December and CryOsleep I don't use the bar. I can do almost all tens. But I need help with getting my stepping speed up. Like in utopia, those long 16th runs, I can BS some of it, but most, I just can't do. and the end of Mythology, and some of Charlene just gets me. and yes, I can read the notes. I can do every song in ITG 1 PS2 on the controller easy, but with at least 1.5x. I can do Pandy controller. And all the 12's and 13s from ITG2 on Stepmania. But does anyone have some pointers for getting stepping speed up. What did you do to go from 10s to 11s when you didn't have the stepping speed. Otherwise, I suck on the pad with 11-13s, does anyone have pointers?
Edit: some tens and cannot do without the bar, actually some I can't do with the bar, because I cannot step fast enough, like Tension. _________________

If you can do Remember December you SHOULD be able to do Charlene and Utopia. Remember December has much faster 16th notes. I'd recomend playing Mythology alot if you can pass it and also playing My favorite Game. Both of those songs have good runs that should help you. There's many more songs you can play that also might help you, but just keep practicing. Your foot speed naturally increases as you get better at the game _________________

so if i just keep playing, i will be able to do better, even if i only play 9's. And also, i said i can't do mythology, though I almost, can, im working on it. And I BS the 16ths in remember December and sometimes use the bar on that part. But I have been trying my favourite game without the bar. But the end I can do, but not without the bar. Im also going to start jogging and stuff, for leg strength, but does just playing the game help foot speed? Even if they are easiers songs like Kiss me red and other 9s? But I will work on 10s.
Edit: Haha... I just understood your sig, I'm as slow as my feet! _________________

Tribal Style
Vertex (Hard)
Fleadh Uncut
Agent Blatant
On A Day Like Today
Walking on Fire
Anubis
I Think I Like That Sound
The Game
My Favorite Game
Oasis
Go whore those out a bit and you'll be able to do the easier 11's then. If you want a final test to pass Footspeed 101, go try Energizer (Hard).
Even though you didn't ask for this, songs to get your footspeed in the shape of preparing for Determinator would be songs like Summer, Disconnected -Hyper-, Monolith, Pandemonium (Hard), July, and Hardcore Symphony.......but you probably won't be worrying about those for a bit. _________________

Agent Blatant and Oasis? What in the hell are you talking about?
I love how you called me uneducated earlier. _________________

Both Oasis and Agent Blatant have some 16th runs if you remember.
Anyways, sorry about calling you uneducated, are you refering to the Vertex^2 thing? Meh, I still don't think its accurate to compare DDR 10's with ITG 13's, but I'm kind of cranky today. I was called a retard recently by someone because I accidentally typed the word "simply" wrong but I forgot who. It happens.
I figured if the guy wanted footspeed to pass Charlene, then the songs that I should suggest should not be the heavy candidates for footspeed such as Destiny and the like but should reflect the ability that he has. For this reason I suggested 9's and 10's with simple 16th runs. (Anubis for the drills) _________________

You mentioned oasis and agent blatant and not Wanna Do or Do U Love Me. Those have more runs than almost every other 9 and 10 that was mentioned in this thread. And Tiza's right, wtf at oasis and agent blatant? 7 seconds of runs each? _________________

Some of those songs I haven't tried, but I'm going to the arcade today, but I have a metal pad at home, which helps, so almost every song from ITG1 that you mentioned I do alot, but I haven't passed Oasis, I don't know why, but I only tried it twice, I will probably pass it today. Thanks, I would be happy for other examples for songs. And Oasis DOES have 16ths, but yes, Do you love me has a lot of them which is good. Thanks!!
Also, I think I will pass robotix today, I THINK, because I almost did last time, and I got a lot better, I don't know why but the 16th streams seem to be easier, probably less pivots, and aren't that long. I BS some of them too I fail near the end _________________

I didn't pass robotix only because they didn't put tape on the bar, so I slipped on it, and the same reason why I couldn't do sunshine, and since I didn't get many turns I couldn't do them, but I will whore them on ITG1 at home today (metal pad w/bar) _________________

I used weights on my lower legs. It really helped build my speed. Now I can do Quasar about halfway through then BS the rest because I'm so tired. _________________

I have no idea, your local sports shop/fitness place should have some. I found mine in the basement. They're about 10 years old, 5 lbs each...it was pretty painful the first week or so. _________________

bad idea, ive seen people really mess up there legs/knees playing with ankle weights. the added wieght magnifies the acceleration forces drastically and puts a huge load on your joints. _________________

Bloodrush 16th runs 10.53 steps/sec
Destiny 16th runs 11.67 steps/sec
Summer 16th runs 12.33 steps/sec
Determinator 24th runs 14.70 steps/sec
Euphoria 32nd runs 18.67 steps/sec
For example, if your max foot speed is about 10 steps/sec, then you should be able to handle Energizer. I seroiusly doubt that anyone in the world could move faster than 20 steps/sec. |
Mine is around 11, so I totally bar rape the runs in Hardcore Syphony and faster. _________________

but this doesn't take into account the actual way the steps are set up. candle steps = more distance and thus require you to move your legs even faster. Imagine if the run in Determinator was ripped right out of Pandemonium. This is probably why HS is still only an 11, despite it's numerous fast extended runs... the steps are set up for "minimum foot distance" it seems. still hard as balls though. _________________
