Sadly, my Ignition has died. My next plan is to build my own pad. Ive been doing research, and Im in a big of an arguement with my father (who builds things like this for a living).

Hes wondering what returns the pad to a non-contact position. He says we need to install something along the line of foam lining so the pad will return to the non-contact position. I said that the brackets hold the pad in place, and when stepped on, contact. When you remove your foot, the pad returns to non contact position.

So, I tried searching for some images of an arcade dance pad dismantled, but to no avail. Am I correct on my assumption? Or what does return the pad? Whats the "recoil" device? Anyone have any comment on this? Ive tried searching and havent come up with much.

so you wanna build a pad eh?

the real thing that causes the arrow to move to the "off" position (i think) is like hard rubber things under each of the corners of the arrows

now what most people do for their homepads, like mine, is use weatherstripping...ie
Quote:
foam lining

or some one even used small springs but i dont advise that

just use the weatherstripping
if you have any questions, ask me (PM/AIM)
i can get pics if you need them

I built my own pad a few weeks ago using sheet metal contacts. You'll have weatherstripping surrounding the edge of the arrows, which breaks the contact when you step off.

Its best to make the arrows a bit flexible so that its the arrows that bend in SLIGHTLY when pressed therefore causing them to touch the contacts, and when there is no pressure they return to the original shape, also adding some weatherproof would make it softer thats good, but dont rely on foam to supply ALL the upward resistance to the arrow panel because it can flatten out over time.
