Hi everyone, well uhm.. yea I'm kind of new at this site.
But anyways, me and some friends got a DDR club started at my school recently biggrin.gif and yea our first meeting we had more people than we expected... we had 33 people show up and were expecting more to be at the next meeting (near 40) and were having troubles with the whole money issue haha.. so I was wondering if anyone could tell me someplace or someone or whatever I could go to to help get some sponsoring?

I've already emailed konami and I plan of faxing DDRGaming.com for help on this issue (if wer'e lucky we'll get read...)
But yea, any help or information you can give me will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks E1.gif

I wish I could help you, but I cant frown.gif

however I'd like to ask you: what exactly did you have to do to get the club started at your school?

Im a sophomore in high school and I'd really like to get a DDR club started here. We had one last year, but it failed due to irresponsible leaders...I've tried looking them up but I cant find them to ask them in person >_>

I suppose what I needed to do to get started would be to first find like at least 4 pads (I was thinking maybe we could get ignitions, you know the ones with the foam insert of whatever) that would probably be the hardest part >_>

however I really have no idea where to go from there...just tell me what you did. E1.gif

Ask for donations from kids at your school. Chances are Konami isn't going to fund a high school DDR club in America.

i started a DDR club last year at my school. start out by asking ppl if they're interested in joining. donations will play a big role in getting your club started if you can't get any sponsors. ask a teacher to advise you guys, and submit a charter or whatnot to your school district (that's what we had to do over in california, at least). once your club is approved, hold a few meetings to see how everyone likes it (all the while asking for donations nerd.gif ) and hold some events and competitions at some point. this will net you some money, maybe enough to get yourself some more pads and other equipment.

if you REALLY want a sponsor, follow annon's advice and don't bother asking konami. a company that big isn't going to have the time to write back to you and stuff. however, aiming at smaller companies might prove a bit more efficient. my friend wrote a letter to RedOctane and received a response stating that we can get like a 10% discount or w/e...not that big, but still a bit better. someone responded to him offering to donate two metal pads, but he disappeared into nowhere...

Oh ohkay well thanks anyways =)
Yea, well we got a teacher to sponsor us and we had to run it through our principle and the student government. And to get us approved, we put it up as a
Fight against obesity
Will appeal to students who aren't into other sports such as football and stuff but more into the video gamers (which is a mass of the obese population)
Print out an article (from a reliable plce like USA Today or something) about how the entire state of WV has made it into there school curriculum (they reallly have, google it)
And uhm.. yea, other than that just get money and choose your words correctly.

Right now we got a location and were having people bring in donations and stuff every meeting morning. But I'm donating 50 dollars to it and hopefully well get more donations and can get some stuff =)
