Am I screwed on music games? What can I do to make Popn, IIDX, and DDR playable again? _________________

I found that making the sound go from PS2 > DVD player > computer's sound card made the sound come a little late. Enough to make me get just greats/goods.
Maybe if you did something like that it would be equal with the TV's lag? Just an idea. _________________

Try using your optical cable and a digital reciever to process your sound.
I just today switched from the optical output of my PS2 to composite cables. It wasn't a big delay, but I started doing significantly better when I switched to the analog sound source. It basically amounted to the difference between getting AAA's and always falling about 20 EX shy of the AAA.
Or you can get a new tv... A non HD CRT is your best friend for music games. Hell you could buy a 27" for less than $200 these days. _________________

Your best bet for reducing lag is to connect the PS2's outputs directly to the TV. You should never route your PS2 through other devices to get to your TV. Also, if you have one of the shiny new DLP TVs, or similar, with all those stupid enhancement electronics, I believe some manufacturers include a gaming setting that turns off a lot of those electronics to halt the extra image processing so you can play with little to no lag. |
