piu soft pad malfunction

Alright, I am having trouble with the pad that comes with the piu bundle. When doing long strings of jumps 9 out of 10 times it will not register one of the jumps. Now I checked and double checked, and I am not missing because of being offbeat. I rarely blame the equipment of a game unless it is really malfunctioning, and this is. I know that soft pads blow, but I have only had this one for about 4 days now. (It has been played steadily for those 4 days, but still, only 4 days? come on) is anybody else having such difficulties? Or did I perhaps get a defective product?
