RedOctane Ignition 2.0 Help: Phantom Stepping: Please help

I have a RedOctane Ignition 2.0 dance pad, and after about a month and a half of owning it, the down arrow started "phantom stepping". I took out the dense-foam insert to see if it might work, and sure enough, the down arrow stopped phantom stepping. The only problem is, how do I get the down arrow to stop phantom stepping while the dense-foam insert is in? I mean that was the whole reason I bought it was for the underneath support that the foam insert gave. Help would be much appreciated.

measure the dimentions of the pad and get cu a peice of ply wood, then get some cardboard and put it between the the plywood and the pad.

Ok I have the exact same problem as you and the same pad. Plywood huh? that might work. I'm gonna go try it now. I'm seriously desperate cause my pad has been doing this for months and I can't PA anything which makes me want to scream.

I love how everyone else last for at least a few weeks because mine literally last for one set of songs before I get phantom stepping left and right (and usually on those arrows, or the down). I wish I had the money for two CF's, so i could end this nonsense AND be able to play doubles, but alas I only have the funding for one. I'm gonna frickin order it today too, these softpads are all BS. My first set of pads from BNS lasted well over a year, and the replacements i got lasted a week. I give up, I was hoping to save some money by not needing to resort to a metal pad, but i might as well buy the best and stop needing to deal with all the BS that I've been getting from any softpads.

Summary: No softpads are good, period. Save up and buy a CF if you want to have any decent scores at home. Then save up and buy another one so you can play doubles. And buy the arcade mod while you're at it.

Yes! plywood totally worked! No more phantom stepping! I think you're right though, I should buy CF pads.

What were your measurements and where did you get your board?

Ok I found this old piece of plywood in the garage. I simply took my foam from the pad, put it on the wood, traced the outline onto the wood, cut it out, sanded EVERYTHING well so it had no splinters, put it in my pad and viola!!! I can finally do PA now! YES!

The dimensions of the wood were about 3 feet height and 2 and a half feet width and about 1/4 of an inch thick. The same size as the pad. As for the plywood it's just regular old plywood.
