What is love? ... err, uh, I mean, techno?

The other day, a couple of my friends and I got into discussing different
types of techno. We know quite little about DDR, being college freshman
n00bs, and we got stuck with only knowing two kinds of techno: trance,
and industrial (heavy machinery). What other kinds of techno music are
there, and *most importantly* how is it/are they relative to DDR?
