Cobalt Flux Sensitivity modding?

Is there anyway to do it? My pads arent old or anything,but buttons are starting to get real picky about where the contact points are... pretty much only in the center of each button and even then it requires a nice amount of force to activate some. I was thinkin about taking off the acrylic or w/e piece is on the top of the arrows and removing the decals so its basically just a flat sheet touching a flat sheet without the rounded piece to require more force. Or would that severly take down the life expectancy of my pad? Anyone who has modded their Cf's please feel free to comment.
