I was playing Lemmings on the Run expert steps the other day when I realized "some of these mine patterns are practically impossible with a bar." I mean, I've never really had a problem with soft pads (it's not as good, but it works, and you get what you pay for), but for ITG, it just doesn't work. I was just wondering what other people who play on soft pads at home think.

And don't say "Buy better pads" or "Play at the arcade." If you want to tell someone to open an arcade in Streamwood with an ITG machine, or you want to buy me a good pad, be my guest. But I can't afford new pads, and I have no arcade near me... so this is for the people in my situation.

I play ITG at home with a big lounge-esque chair as a bar of sorts, as I play with high speeds and I need my balance.

I can play songs with lots of mines without the bar and with the bar, I just do better with the bar as I can play at faster speeds, as that is my play style.

I don't play with mines. Just never really got into them. I tried, but I just don't like them E15.gif

I can do stuff like Disconnected Mobius (expert) fairly easily on a soft pad. Give it a try, and look at the ending. E10.gif I've done it on a soft pad without hitting a mine there.

The footwork is strange, but a bar is by no means necessary. The main disadvantage of a soft pad is that, when four mines come by, it's not very safe to just stand in the middle, your toes are likely to touch an arrow or two. Instead, spread your legs and stand slightly out of the pad or, if it's convenient, just jump over the mines.

With some practice, you'll get used to mines, bar or not.

Do you have it set to pad play (ie. x, o, triangle, and square are turned off)?
