for those of you that have a ddr system at home, about how often do your pads break? i have a redoctane ignition 2 foam pad, and i've been through about seven in three months. i go through one every few weeks, and my friend (who has the same pad) does as well, except a little less frequently, because i play too much. i know the pads aren't super durable, but i love the ignition too much to replace it with anything else. is it just me, or do people usually go through them at this rate? |

um..not exactly. For me, a dance mat normally lasts about 5 months before it actually breaks, and that kind of surprises me. o.O; but my cousin does have the same exact ones but she wears them out in about 3 or 4 weeks o.o the only difference between the way me and her use the mats is that I wear socks and she doesn't x__X;;;
This probably has nothing at all to do with wearing out the mats, but it does make you think. o.o; |

Of the pads that -I- use, the Konami soft pad is still working fine, except it just won't stay put. But I can deal with that.
As for the used red octane pad my brother insisted on buying, it was useless in a few weeks, due to the sensors all migrating to the middle. I don't see how he could have done it, seeing as he doesn't play above light most of the time.. |

Depending on the quality of the pad and the foam, I need a new one every 2-6 months. |

I've gone through 2 of those Fry's Deluxe soft pads and the current one still works good enough to play a few catas on. |

My last pair of ignitions (non Red Octane) lasted me 9 months, modified of course.
I've killed off 3 ignition pads (all non RO) but keep in mind I have friends that play with me (9s, 10s, crazy stuff).
1 DPR soft pad
and finally my Cypher metal pads both have electrical problems.
My current set of Ignitions (again, non RO noticing a trend yet? ) I've had since December and they're still going pretty stong, the main one people use is starting to tear internally because people don't seem to understand how to pick up their feet.
For _cellardoor:
Best tip for ignition pads, modification. Red Octane =/= quality IMO. Go on Ebay, you'll get a PAIR of ignitions for half the price you'd pay for a RO. _________________

I think I've gone through three sets (pairs) of generic soft pads.
I bought a wireless softpad that didn't work straight out of the box.
And, I've bought one replacement control box for my CF, and I'm fearing I might need another one soon. |

I always duct tape two soft pads, I kill pads fast because I try to play only doubles with my own crazy edits on 200+ bpm songs.
Iâve been playing more at the arcade because it too expensive to kill soft pads that fast. |

Hmm....one Red Ignition soft pad, 2 official Konami pads, one Madcatz pad (it was 10 bucks...and I was maddeningly dumb that day), and one Gamestop pad. I just got my new Cobalt Flux today, so I hope that lasts me longer |

because you refuse to go to the arcade and hijack one for yourself. Either that or you are just stupid. |

Flimsy RO soft pad - actually lasted 2 years thanks to modding
Ignition 1.0 pad I bought - 3 months
Ignition 1.0 pad I bought after that - 4 months
Ignition 2.0 pad I won at a tournament - 4 months
A somewhat used CF - 18 months
So, after hearing about the Afterburner, I actually might invest in it.

I wore out no pad I ever bought. Someone in my house plainly destroyed two mats. Im on my third and I strictly monitor its use. The Mad Catz beat pad could have lasted ror 6 months. My 1st Gamestop pad could have went through a few years of heavy play. I'm testing out how long this one lasts because I want a Cobalt Flux. _________________
