Do you think its worth it to spend a lot of money on a metal mat with the bar? I really like it, especailly because I love playing in the arcade but don't have the time to do it. Are the mats exactly like the arcade?

I'm pretty sure this is the one i saw-

Is that a good mat?

Thanks

this pad is a TX-2000, which is crap. the soldering job is bad. the acrylic panels suck. and instead of sheet metal like the CF theres crappy conductive foil which burns out after about 1 month of use. However this pad can be modified to work better. Making your own panels from lexan plastic. Sheet Metal Mod and give it a good soldering job. I dont recommend playing on shoes if you dont want to make lexan panels because the weak thin acrylics with crack. the acrylics are bowed up and bend when you step on them. if you dont buy the 4 screw design the brackets on the side will cut your feet. also with the TX-2000 the bar i hear isnt solid and is very wobbly. making the bar almost useless. i advise getting the model without the bar if your gonna get a TX model which i think isnt a very smart choice unless your getting it for under 80 bux. but if you buy a TX-1000 or 2000 you'll most likely have to do some mods. oh yeah TX-1000 and 2000 arent like arcade pads.

Thank you for the help. Can you please recommend to me a metal pad that wont break, and that is like the arcade one, and is possibly affordable also? (up to $300 i guess). I appreciate it.

EDIT: where can I find a RedOctane or CobaltFlux pad?

you can find a cobalt flux pad at www.cobaltflux.com shippings about 50 dollars the cobalt flux wood base will crack if its on crappy carpeting. making a plywood base helps this

you can find the redoctane afterburner at www.redoctane.com 200 dollars
i dont reccomend buyin the afterburner because it uses copper foil contacts that dont last long. the panels are known to crack and u might get a crappy control box.

the BNS Fusion Pad is pretty good. according to the user Koofu its very durable. however its totaly flat so u wont be able to feel where u are. some people can adjust to this pad being flat. it can be bought here www.buynshop.com

The BNS Metal Pad is good if you dont feel like spending 350 on a dance pad. It has polycarbonate arrow panels which is good. i think this pad uses foil contacts, so sheet metal modding this pad is a good idea. the polycarbonate panels may crack but you can make your own panels

I heard the TX-4000 and TX-6000 are good pads too. They have metal panels so they wont crack. im not sure about the soldering job. its compatible with Xbox, PS1-2, and USB so you could download stepmania to play a ddr simulation. Stepmania can be found here www.stepmania.com

if you happen to change your mind about getting a metal pad. the BNS DX pads are good. i heard they're better than the Redoctane Ignition Pads and half the price. they can be found somewhere on www.buynshop.com

The cf is handsdown the best built pad on the market today imho, i just recieved my 2nd and my first has been going strong for about a year and a half now. Crappy carpeting means, REALLY thick shag, thats basically the only thing that will do anything to a cf, and even that is rare.

I really recommend you buy a CF. It's worth every penny. It's also worth the extra $25 for the mod kit - makes it feel like an arcade mat, and they even put it on for you.

So um, is it bad that awhile ago I was watching Family Guy, and when Quagmire came on, I thought something to the effect of "Whoa, It's AA Bob!" (I don't remember if the exact thought was "It's AA Bob" or "It's AA Bob's avatar", but I don't think it matters in this case)?
