i recently made a hard pad for my ddr, and i soldered the wires to the X, O, triangle and square buttons, and used an adapter that doesnt let you press left+right, or up+down (but since i mapped to the X, O, triangle and square, this problem doesnt affect me). it works like a charm on playstation.

but when i play stepmania on my laptop, sometimes when i'm playing, my pad seems to "shut off" (especially on the harder songs, for some reason). during this time, none of the buttons register. sometimes it shuts off for a second and comes back on, but other times ih ave to restart the program, and replug-in the usb adapter. so what is my problem here? my adapter, my pad, laptop?

Hi beef_noodo

Seems to be the Gamepad you've soldered to. Sounds like too much static electricity for the Gamepad. I had similar symptoms.
Are you playing with shose? If yes, try playing these harder songs without shoes and see how far you can get.
Well it's strange that it does work on PS2, but it would be worth a try.

If it is the static electricity you have two options:

1: change the device so that it somehow can withstand the static electricity, like connecting it to the earth. Don't ask me how, I don't know E10.gif

2: Get yourself an Xbox Device for a commercial Metalpad, solder onto this and replace the xbox connector with USB.
This is the best the solution because a xbox controlbox creates far less lag than some combination of adapter and input device.
