Annoying Stepmania bug; need tech support!

I downloaded the latest version of stepmania (had this problem with previous versions as well) and I have a weird bug where I cannot change the volume. I can go to options and change it to -Silent- and still after I accept the changes the volume cranks back up to max. I have stepmania on a second computer and it does not have this problem. I've attempted to reinstall stepmania many times, but it still fails to work. How can I correct this?

Change the volume? Get up and turn the speakers/tv down

Sometimes I multi-task, and I need to have the volume down so I can actually hear other things happening on my computer, such as being aimed or maybe hear people while talking over voice chat. Doesn't happen with Stepmania! lol

Well, i dont know why you would need to do the stuff in the middle of playing Stepmania, but have you tried pressing enter once you got the percentage volume you wanted?

does ur sound work with everything else? if i doesnt then that could meen ur sound card is loose.
