I never really played beginner, just did bad on light mode and after a few days it just kinda started to click. What I have my friends who I'm teaching to play do now is play through all of training mode. That alone should be enough to get you pretty good at most light songs and ready for some standard songs. |

Don't go back to the middle, and dont just use one foot. And use speed mods too if you need to. _________________

The biggest thing you can do to help you progress into light is to not return to the middle. This step is crucial later on, so make sure you learn to leave it behind. Another thing that helps is to feel the bass beat of the music. Most songs on light will follow a simple bass beat. And of course, Practice, practice practice! _________________

heres what I did:
I chose one song the night I ot my copy of DDRMAX, and played it over and over on light mode (theres no begginer mode). I belive Extreme US has a practice mode. Anyway, I played that one song (Sandstorm by Darude) from about 8 at night till 3 AM untill I was able to full combo it and AA it everytime I played it. About a month after that I found out about stepmania. Downloaded it and whored (Kick the can, which is a really good song for helping read the notes) After that I was able to play most songs (up to 6-7 footer) on heavy).
From there I went to the arcade every day for about 5-6 hours a day. And now here I am full comboing Max300 and PS.
It takes a while. Just stick with it and most importantly: DON'T GIVE UP!
Even if there are people at your arcade that are better than you, don't get discouraged. Try to make friends with them. They will give you hints and pointers that you wont get here off the internet.
Also, don't set your standards to high. Don't worry about PA untill your at least on standard. If you worry about PA this early, then it will sow down your progress towards heavy and oni.
The most important advice I can give you is: Don't copy someone else. Everyone has their own style. Everyone is comfortable doing different things. Try different speed mods and try solo. If you don't like them then don't use them. Don't let someone tell you what to do. If you see someone doing something different than you, try it. If itdon't work then that means it won't work.
Oh, and DO NOT RETURN TO THE MIDDLE! Thats the only thing that is the same for every DDR player. You will not be able to advance if you keep bringing you feet back to the middle of the pad. Remember: you won't lose points for stepping on the pad when there are no arrows. _________________
Call it DDR! Call it ITG! Either way, it still taste like chicken.
Konami created it (DDR), RoXoR perfected it (ITG), and we should all respect them equally. |
