Share a story of your extreme exhaustion moments playing DDR. Here's mine.

I've had a bad case of poison ivy lately, so I spend most my time on drugs, sleeping, or doing DDR so that I can't feel anything. DDR because of adrenaline and the other two for obvious reasons.

A couple days ago, I was half through Paranoia Rebirth on Heavy and my legs just stop moving. I had been playing for about 6 hours straight with 40 hours of no sleep, a 7 mile run for cross-country practice, and mostly 7-9 footers with a few 6's to take a downtime for songs. I didn't know what was coming until I was on the floor and my knees won't lock long enough for me to stand up.

The thing is, with distance running, you don't feel yourself being tired until the last second. You can't let being tired get to you in a race. You just think of all the rest you're going to get while your in the finish chute handing your number ticket to the counter.

The result of this is that I didn't brace myself in the fall and hit my head right on the corner of a table next to my television. At least it's a bruise that has a pretty funny story.

So...

...yeah... erm.gif

Sofar my best (or worst?) has been playing for about 4 hours straight, my legs were starting to hurt, but I did not feel like quitting just yet. So I took a 5 minute break to spread icy hot all over my lower legs.

I got on the pad at near the peak of the hot part of the icy/hot working, blazed through afronova primeval on light with a b (my top score on that before was a d), then went on to whallop rhythm and police for another b (again d or low c was my previous record).

I was having endurance problems on those 2 songs but now I do fine on them without the icyhot.

I was exhausted one night after work, but I just had to play DDR. I get on, play a couple of songs, and notice the arrows look weird. Like really weird. I kept playing, and I was freaking out because the arrows were changing speed accross the screen. Thoughts were going through my head like someone spiked my drink at work or I had been hit in the head with a frying pan without knowing it. Still I played, and still the arrows kept freaking me out to the point where I thought there was something seriously wrong with me...

..Turns out I accidently turned boost on. I was still fairly new to the game so I didn't know entirely what the feature was. I know now.

The first time I ever played, I was in a hotel arcade and was on the machine for 6 hours straight. Nono, I didn't hog the machine! There was another one right next to it that was normally empty E4.gif ! Anyway, in the last two hours of playing, every 5 games I would dash up to the hotel room (3rd floor, elevators wern't working) to wash off sweat and cover myself in ice. This took about 5 minutes in the room, then i'd dash back down to the arcade!

I slept on the machine?

Another time, I slept on an inflated sofa beside the machine.

i was playing paranoia suvivor max on heavy after playing 6-9 footers for about 6 hours. I almost got to the end ,but i ended up running to the bathroom in the arcade(it was more of a stumble than a run) and threw up for about 20 minutes, and my nose was also bleeding.

Another time, i was playing at my house on an Ignition pad, i passed out on a song i cant remember. i must have played for about 8 hours

The most annoying thing about chain playing DDR for hours is eventually you get so sweaty that you have to shower because it is running off your fingers and onto the mat. And that is just gross.

(PS - Don't sweat on arcade mats. It's icky and people can slip on it)

I was playing DDR at a movie theater sometime last year, after having gone at least 3 months without playing. For some reason, the thought that my stamina and endurance might have decreased didn't cross my mind at all. I hopped on the machine at immediately started doing 7s, 8s, and 9s, which I thought I was more than capable of. Within a few games, my feet started hurting like crazy, and to make matters worse, the only thing I'd had for refreshment was a giant cup of soda. I stupidly kept playing through the pain, stumbling back and forth between the machine and a drinking fountain. By the time I was done, I was so exhausted from the sugar crash and my legs and feet were in such pain and fatigue that I almost couldn't get back to my car. x_x

I played about three hours straight on 7, 8, 9, and a few 10 footers with no breaks in between, and I hadn't had anything to drink or eat that day, anyways, I had just finished LoM on Heavy and failed it, I'm dripping sweat at this point, I though I had enough energy for one more song. I thought I'd do a song that I rarely did, Can't Stop Fallin' in Love: Speed Mix, I was doing alright till half-way through the song and I got to the part where you have to do a bunch of half steps with one foot and I just collapsed and hit my head on....something hard. I just got up and left.

Hey, here is a second place ehxaustion prize.

Right now.

I'm on another insomnia binge so that I can sleep/wake at a good hour.

Still... I haven't collapsed, so I felt good enough to do Castles in the Sky on standard...

...with one foot. laugh.gif

(seriously, I'm really tired E2.gif )

Once, I gasped for air. Really loudly. Everyone found it amusing.

My friend has been known to vomit on the subwoofer when he gets really tired E1.gif

The first time i played so deep i made it almost to the end, about 10 seconds away from finishing, and i just straight collapsed and was gasping fro air. My chest was tight and i was in a lot of pain for a few minutes but it passed. i couldnt move for a while though.

Wanted to play more...

It was the first time that I passed The legend of MAX on heavy. (This was last year) It was at closing time for the arcade, so I was lucky to have chosen it so soon, (I chose Mahou no Tobira next, but they shut the machine off on the middle of it.) I had been playing almost all day. (Since I got there at 3:30PM until closing 9:00) I wasn't finished though. That night was the night of an "all-nighter" at a computer/videogame store called "X-Zone". They had Stepmania with a working pad and well over 1000 songs (which was a lot more than it would be today) I immediatly started playing stepmania. (Keep in mind that I only play on Heavy) I played almost everything, some songs were put on 1.5 music rate too. (that sure was hilarious laugh.gif ) I ended up only eating one slice of pizza for that whole day, and I also only went to the bathroom once, around 1 or 2 AM. I played until around 7:30AM, making for a total of 16 hours! (straight)

I got home after and I was filthy... but i was too tired to take a shower so I just laid down. I then had muscle cramps so painful that it knocked the air out of my lungs. I still wanted to play more though. (Yes, I'm addicted)

Heh kinda reminds me of "The day, the really expensive arrows scrolled"

After getting the DDR machine into my room, I played one of the longest arrow smashing marathons ever... well at that time it was, 18 hours... I woke the next morning on the stage with the machine still going... arrows are cold.gif ...
