ok, you are building your own homepads, so lets try it out, here is my version
yes, like arcade 4 switches per button.
need to add graphics, but already have 10 mm makrolon , so its very inflexible buttons a bit deeper than the other areas in order to feel where you stand. just the rail must be added.
investions until now ~ 300 ⬠and ~ 20 hours work, maybe i can reduce the invested time a bit, if some people are interested, but will be a long way till that, until now its a trying other ways out, testing durability and modding it in order to have perfect precision
here a small video. added sound not that good webcam, but the light is visible i hope
ive used electronic circuit to make it plugable to a tx2000 controlbox, so its lagfree connection to ps xbox and pc, no adapter required
hmm maybe there will be a deluxe and a normal version out, however, the deluxe version shd become a perfect pad, so tere shdnt be any difference to the arcade. so if there are suggestions to come closer to this goal or questions what materials areused until now, dont hesitate to ask |

I would buy one of these right now if they were available. Especially with Cobalt Flux pissing me off yet again by still not having the Xbox cbox out. |

dont worry about xbox controlbox, ive already modded my cf so that i dont need an adapter at pc. (changed the pos of some wires that i can connect an xbox tx2000 controlbox to cf, then cahnged xbox to usb and connected it
maybe its helpful, because most 'metal-wood' pads are only some switches. electronic is put outside in that controlboxes, so u can check which wire/pin is associated to what pad button and use a controlbox from another pad with your one. www.ddrlag.de.vu <-- cf to cbox wasnt main intention, just a step to connect to pc, but i guess i have also explained that step on the page |

It could use some Arrow Labels... or have you not gotten to that part yet?
Make it to where the light shines through them if you haven't. _________________

most arrow labels are not symmetric, maybe a selfmade rework will help to have better ones.
the lights, yes, normally used as pc modding, will be changed to spirals so next pad will be brighter.
and switches, transistors shd help that whenever a button lights up, its also sure that in game the button is pressed. so its not that hard to find a possibly always or never activated switch.
my dad and i will start the pad on monday, lets hope that it will be ready until the end of the week |

Do you get excessive clicking from the switches? I know that's why I favored the "large single button" design than using microswitches; I didn't want a lot of extra clicking, especially on 10+ songs. _________________

unfortunately just a prototype, only had building plan on-the-fly, when building. but so or so there are some corrections to do. next one will have other lights, a connection between the lights circuit and the buttons-activated circuit, so less current trough the switches and guarantee that activated button also activates the light of this button.
some feet to reduce pad slipping on flat surfaces, and hopefully the graphics on the buttons will be added
there is no special difference between other pads. sizes are the exact same as arcade (measured), assembly also near arcade (every button a box with a switch near each of the 4 sides. massive button plates nearly reached with 10mm, but feeling still not sure if same as arcade, need to try out some more, but this has also to do with stepmania and the offset and unprecise bpm of the songfiles.
and the rail is still a problem. should be the perfect pad, so will take some more time.
if u like i can do some more pictures of the pad, but wont make much sense, another one is planned to be done until end of this week |

This looks to be the most arcade like pad I've seen. This needs to be indexed somehow, Id just hate to see this thread get lost because it looks like a really promosing pad. |

Impressive. The force is strong with this one.
Seriously, awesome looking pad. I was planning on building a metal pad one of these days, but I wanted to find something better than just the metal plates connecting. Well, I think I've found my solution. _________________
