I made a topic about a month ago saying that I as well as other people in the Birmingham, AL area was going to be featured in a DDR Article. Im not sure if this is the correct place to put this topic, if it isn't please change the location. I should have post this article earlier (8 days late) but better late than never.

BTW, Im Randall Parker in this article E4.gif , also my face looks weird in the picture im in disgust.gif

Nice. Too bad it couldn't be in something a lot bigger, like the Boston Globe or NYTimes. but still, congrats.
the article wrote:
a new generation of video games has teenegers working up a sweat

How long has DDR been out?
the article wrote:
Many players favor home versions available at gaming stores, ranging from several hundred dollars to more than $1,000 for the games and equipment.

Holy pucky! Man, EB and Best Buy must be losing a ton of money on those $20 softpads I buy laugh.gif
the article wrote:
...a hit at places such as Time Out, one of about 18 locations in the state with the machines, according to www.ddrfreak.com, a gamer's Web site.

Schwing! New member rate just increased 30%.
the article wrote:
..who choose from dozen of dance mix songs, from classical to '70's funk to Cher.

Best. Listing. Ever.
the article wrote:
A couple of rounds of the frantic-paced Dance Dance Revolution are enough to send the average 35-year-old dialing 911 and begging for Pac-Man.

Ok, who wants to take this one? I personally found this one very amusing.
the article wrote:
At it's best, the game resembles synchronized tap dancing or pop music choreography.

*slap* You know, madame Hewitt Taylor, you go making DDR into this thing that will get everyone excited over it, and then you ruin it with this sentence.
the article wrote:
On home versions for systems such as Sony, Xbox and Playstation II

They're different? I even love how she put the 2 in roman numerals. E15.gif

Overall, cool article, minus these flubs, and the occasional random sentence.

Love the article congrats!!!
However, I think people who writes article are often not familiar with DDR. I found another article today in Google news “Dor Max2 Dance revolution” as headline. I though may be new dancing game… When I went to page, they had picture of DDRMax2 machine… disgust.gif

Older people can't handle the game? Yes we can E4.gif

Yes, but the wording of the article makes it seem like one has to shell out a couple hundred as a bare minimum.

Overall, I think the article's portrayal of the game sucks. But I like the ddrfreak.com mention.

Maistorm you probably did see my at the tournament. I was the black guy wearing blue jean shorts and a dark blue shirt. I competed in the standard division (I lost the guy in the yellow shift that won the standard tournament).

When I get my car I will be at the arcades alot more often E4.gif .

I remember seeing something about it on CNN a few years ago. I thought, "a dancing video game? Who the heck would want to play that?"

(That was before it hit in Pittsburgh and before I got addicted)

You do.

PS2 (150) + Mem card (20) + DDR Bundle (60) = $230 before tax

I suppose one could argue going the PS1, Konamix route, but not if somebody wants to easily find DDR titles and/or wants new releases.

Lucky!!

Your town or city must be big so you'll get some attention all right.

Maybe it'll happen to me, but our town's pop. is only about 1,000 where no machine wil exsist and media is steady.

Tell J Dogg and maybe he'll put it in the media section, and i hope you saved that article.

Now I want to buy a TX-3000 for the future. or is it a 1000.

Well, technically, the article says "several hundred," not "couple hundred." That makes it seem like a $500 minimum. And it's not like there are a lot of people who would be interested in getting involved with DDR who don't already have a PS2. It would be safe to assume DDR isn't a must-get-console kind of game among the general populous, so that can get taken out (along with mem cards).

EDIT: In some cases, I bet you could argue that any PS1 mix would cover the difference in system prices going the PS1 route.

If you don't have a ps2. I didn't buy a playstation explicity to play DDR; I bought the console years before I even picked up DDR. You might as well say it costs hundreds of dollars to watch a single movie, because you have to buy the tv and dvd player and the disc itself.
