I've heard rumors to the effect that if you have DDR for the PS2 you can put the game into a computer with a CD burner and then burn an audio CD with all the songs directly from the game. Is this true? If so, how is it done? Is it illegal if I only make one for myself?
(If it makes a difference, I'm talking about DDRMAX2 for the US PS2.) |

I would say no. I put my copy of DDRMAX2 into the CD drive one time out of pure boredom and I couldn't find any of the audio files. If it was possible, then I'd be listening to MaxX Unlimited 24/7 _________________

And I suggest you DON'T get a dvd ripper to extract all of the music, etc. from the game.
Edit: I also suggest you DON'T google it or check zdnet.com. |

Also, NEVER try looking on iTunes for licensed songs like YMCA, Kick The Can (I Bought it), & some other songs! |

As I recall, ripping the songs from the PS2 disc to your computer is perfectly legal, so long as you do not redistribute the songs.** I wrote a program to perform such an operation, but it took me quite a while, and has a good deal of crash bugs in it, just to name a few problems.. As I recall, Neil Corlett wrote a program called "vb2rip" which supposedly does a very good job of extracting the songs. (Songs are stored in a compressed format known as "vb2," in a file usually named "filedata.bin" (could be "str.bin"), just so you know.)
**Not actually sure about this, but it's not as though Konami or the RIAA is going to come knock down your door. They won't know what you did unless you redistribute the songs somehow. _________________

Why don't you download Stepmania instead and transfer the songs into winamp. SO you have allt the ddr songs. _________________

I sugest you do what I did NOT DO, which was use a male-male cord to plug the headphone jack to my TV to the mic port on my comp, and then use a recording program (like GoldWave) to record it. _________________

This is the second time I've seen someone recommend that site and I'm feeling a bit confused as it hasn't worked for me either time. I've tried it on Firefox 1.0.4, Mozilla 1.7.6, and Internet Explorer 6 from 3 different locations (home, work, and a library) and it never works. Is that site actually working for anyone else? I just get a complete 404 on that URL. Not that I care, I don't need the site. I just think it looks odd for people to recommend something that, as far as I can tell, isn't working. |
