Firstly I'd just like to make it clear that I have nothing against anybody or anything here. I love these forums and am fond of everybody who posts here that I've met. This is not a rant, whine session, or an angry topic. It is a simple inquiry.

alright, now let's get to the questions:

1. Do trick members have the ability to lock threads, request locks or dish out warning points? I was wondering because in the FAQ it said only admins and maniac members could do this, however if you go back quite a few pages in the DDR chit chat forum, you'll probably notice that a trick member had said one of the famous "Lock catch phrases" or "warning point phrases" and the thread after that was then locked.

Secondly: I've been a member for far more than 30 days as a basic member and I still haven't reached the rank of Trick member. It really doesn't make a difference to me what my ranking is because, I can still enjoy this lovely forum with you guys. However, I believe and correct me if I'm wrong that you have sort of a 30 days to trick upgrade. Why hasn't this happened.

Thanks to the wonderful mods and other such members who answer these questions

~Blair~

Only in Marketplace, and only where they are the thread owner.

request locks
Anyone can "request locks" (via PM).

or dish out warning points?
No. That is *only* for Admins and Moderators.

Someone may occasionally lock a thread and forget to post a message indicating why it was locked, which would give the thread the appearance of someone not on staff having locked the thread, but no, non-Moderators or non-Admins cannot lock threads.

What may also have happened is that someone locked the thread and was in the process of writing a "Why I locked this thread" post when you saw the thread.

You have misunderstood the FAQ.

14 days in Beginner + 30 days in Basic = 44 days before Trick

Plus you also have to have 25 posts or more.

Some moderators retired and they went back to Trick status from Maniac status.

AFAIK, Remy was the only one to do this. The rest are listed as "Staff" members which hold no power, and just have a darker shade of green for a foot color.

There are two others I can think of off the top of my head: Xhad and crystine.

There are others, of course, but their locks have probably been purged by now, so it's moot.
