game puts on mods, without me knowing.

i was about to do PSM on standard from www.beatmania.com look up the one with the backround. it should have the two people running for some purple goo in a glass. and they drop it after he punches out the other one. but anyways my stepmania put it on sudden mode without me knowing. its been doing this with other mods too like super shuffle.

I'm not aware of any feature that would make Stepmania put on mods without your knowledge (unless they're programmed into a .crs file, but you'd only encounter that if you were doing Nonstop/Challenge/Endless).

Stepmania does have "foot codes" like the arcade does that can turn on/off mods by hitting certain combinations of arrows while at song wheel. It's possible to hit these by accident. For example, you're probably used to hitting up-down-up-down to change the sort order, but it's easy to accidentally do down-up-down-up instead, which turns on one of the mods (I can't remember which... or I might have gotten those reversed). When you activate one of these codes, you should hear a sound & see the mod show up in a little box on top of the screen.

It'd be a good idea to always get into the option screen & make sure there aren't any mods on that you don't know about.

Up-down-up-down is indeed the sort change, and down-up-down-up turns on Shuffle.
