So I was playing a rather strenous session of DDR and I decided to finish up with LOM Standard. I was already winded and tired, but I was up for the challenge.

I made it fine through the whole song until the hammering came. I managed to get through it ok but after that I laid down on the couch. My calves were throbbing on the inside. I eventually passed out after all the pain I was in (I was in serious pain) and I woke up with my mom screaming at me to wake up. She thought I was dying and was about to call 911.

Anyone else have a story like this?

Geeze, I remember when I first started and me and my other totally newbie buddies played until about 6 AM from 10 PM doing nothing but lights, thinking we were insanely awesome when we A'd or AA'd something, and were too scared to try standard E1.gif The pain the next day was unbearable, as I'm sure most all of the other members of this board have experienced.

I don't really get into a "painful" state anymore, but things with a whole lot of jackhammers and fast streams make me unable to play well for a while. That, and any attempt on some MAX on heavy which always ends in failure and lots of sweat...

Maybe you have circulation problems. Had you stretched at all before you played? I'd talk to your doctor about it if you start getting those pains again.

I passed out after playing Max 300 (first time I passed it!) when I had the flu.

I came close once at Jilly's , I wasn't even playing anything hard I just felt weak at the knees and almost fell. I was light headed , my head was spinning. I did throw up a couple of times though , both times after max 300 too. The first time , was the very first time I clear max 300 after an hour straight of playing it. I jumped off the pad and started running around , and I threw up , then I take a look at my grade ( a b) and I didn't care. And I don't get this anymore , but when I first started doing 10's , I use to get an intense burning sensation in my chest during play.

I've never passed out. Been in a bit of pain after a lot of playing, but that's about it.

However...there is one really weird and consistent thing that keeps happening with me. So far, everytime I've played HVAM and gotten to the pause (where the flatline sounds and the uber-stream begins), my brain just kinda shuts off and I keep dancing as if I'm not even there. It's like a complete blackout. I can't recall stepping the notes or remember any of the patterns in the stream...I just kinda drop off the face of the earth until the heartbeat kicks in at the end. It wouldn't be so odd if it wasn't for the fact that it has happened everytime I've played and gotten to the stream. And I passed each time. No matter how tired my legs were, if I hit that stream, I apparently get a guaranteed pass. I guess I can't complain. E10.gif

Well I am new, and can't even beat standard songs yet, but I do get tired. I played today, many songs in a row. My favourite is End Of The Century, and I wanted to ace it, so I played it three times. May sound easy for you, but I only managed C's. After that, I tried playing other simple songs but I was far too lazy and kept missing steps because I didn't want to pick up my feet.

Ah, good times. I can't wait to play standard End Of The Century.

Standard is fun. I just about had an Asthma attack after A'ing CSTFL:SM on Ultramix. God that hurt so badly.

EDIT: That was on Heavy of course

The reason I can't seem to get the hang of standard is the 1/8th steps. But otherwise, I can keep up with the steps fairly.

And the stupid lessons, they barely help at all.
I'm sure i'll get it soon though. Too much school/work at the moment.

I love DDR. I want to be great at it.

After playing for around 2 hours of a mix of standard and heavy (I can play 9's but if I play too many I get tired out so I sometimes play the 9 and 10 foot heavy songs on a standard level), if I play Maxx Unlimited on Standard 2 - 3 times in a row, I start to get dizzy. I never passed out though

Actually, stretching and making sure you do a light cool down exercise should help more after a heavy workout than before one. Your legs probably hurt because your heart has pumped a lot of blood into them during your aerobic workout. If you lay down straight after and don't get your blood pumping again so that the blood moves back throughout your body it will just pool there. This is also bad for your heartand will cause erratic palpitations which also might have contributed to the passing out.

I say... just keep working out and you'll pass out... less? I don't know.

Maybe you should consult a physician.

I have played PSMO, MaxX Unlimited, The Legend of Max, Max 300, then So Deep as the extra stage and I never had a problem. Sure, I was tired, but like 5 minutes later I played some more. The only times I have ever passed out was from stretching and yawning at the same time. I drop to the floor and stay out for like 10 seconds. It's weird... blink.gif

I always get pains in my legs after playing for about an hour, and have to stop because I just can't/don't want to ppick up my feet at all. Never played long enough to get worse than that, though.
