Hey, I like to use DWI over SM, but all my DWI files were recently deleted in a freak computer accident. Anyways, my friend has over 1000 songs on SM he can burn for me, but I'd really like to run them on DWI. How can I do that? Is there a program I need to do, or will a simple renaming of the file suffice? I looked in the FAQ and did a search but couldn't find anything about converters. Also, will converting the steps mess up the songs / steps / picture in any way?

The structure of .sm files is different than that of .dwi files. Renaming the file extension will not work.
StepMania will make a .dwi file for you out of the .sm file if you open the simfile in the editor and then save it one or two times. This would probably be rather time-consuming for "1000s of SM files" though.

why do you perfer DWI over SM? i can understand if it's like, 2003, but seriously, almost NO ONE plays DWI anymore, because DWI looks like someone took a shit and smeared it across the screen
