i dont see this in any other threads (yes, even the obvious ones), so here is is.

both my keyboard and my pad seemend to be lagging on every single song i played, and i didnt want to change the offset on every single song. i didnt see any options for general offset in the stepmania menus, so i tried the forums. no avail. i searched through a bunch of ini files and finally found:
Code:
GlobalOffsetSeconds=0.000000

looks promising. i change it to:
Code:
GlobalOffsetSeconds=-0.030000

and this drew the timing window perfectly around my arrows.

if you've had problems with your keyboard or joystick lagging, thats all you need to add!

Your devices do not lag, the stepcharts are just a bit off and that will be 0.03secs E13.gif

That was already well known (atleast I did)

i mean every single song. its inherent of the electronics to take a very short while to register. if i push a button on my joystick, it takes a fraction of a second for the signal to be represented on the screen. so, i offset the difference my changing the timing bar.

I think that settings moves the whole stepchart, not just the timing window.

thats what i mean. it offsets the steps to the song so button presses are on beat with the song and the steps instead of just the songchart being in time with the song.
