Ok so me and my friend were playing at our local playland ( DDR Extreme ) and i picked up Summer Love as our song. We were both on heavy, then at the end of the song we both had the exact same number of perfects and greats, about 40 some. Anyways, what is the general amount of greats you need to stay under in order to AA? Thanks.

It varies from song to song. The more steps, the more # of greats you can get before getting a AA.

93% of the steps need to be perfect for an AA.

WRONG.

You need 93% dance points to get a AA.

Perfect = 2
Great = 1
Good = 0
Boo = -4
Miss = -8
OK = 6
NG = 0

The total number of dance points in a song is number of steps * 2 + number of freezes * 6.

The percentage of dance points you got determines your grade.

100% = AAA
>=93% = AA
>=80% = A
>=65% = B
>=45% = C
<45% = D
Fail = E

Note that this varies from mix to mix... but this is the general formula for the PS2 Era DDR's.

The cutoff is 36.

That could be 36 Greats, or 34 Greats/1 Good, or 30 Greats/1 Boo, or 16 Greats/2 Misses, or 11 Greats/3 Goods/1 Boo/1 Miss, etc... or less than that.

you know, i like the fact that Extreme US requires FC for AA. theres nothing i hate more than an A replacing a AA on max2.

Or to be geeky with some basic algebra, a one-line formula for the max greats allowed in any song:
MaxG = (2N + 6F) - RoundedUp(((2N + 6F) * .93))

The US-PS2 EX system 93%+FC is kind of interesting. I think it adds a nice challenge to the mix. But then it is pisser if u sdg something and have 1 Good turn it into a freakin A.

Anyway, what was weird about this thread? That u guys tied on a song? blink.gif

An equivalent formula would be

Max Greats = (N + 3F)*(0.14), rounded down. (N = number of steps, F = number of freezes)

So, to compute the AA Great cutoff, take the number of steps, add 3 times the number of freezes, multiply by .14, round down.

Isn't the grading a lil more lenient in the home version?

Heard as long as you full-combo in the home version you'll get a AA.

...but if you take the number of greats and divide it by 16, unless of course you're under 21, by which the number would be 11, and you multiply it 6.8312, this should equal the number of perfects divided by the number of goods, based on the percentage of steps you can a great on, and either way, everyone will still be friggin confused.

hope i helped E1.gif
