i need help please. i've played ddr at the arcades a couple of times and i have fallen in love with it. i have a ps2 and i want to buy the game and a pad for my ps2. now i don't know which game to buy. ddr max, or ddrmax 2, or ddr extreme. i'd rather have a game with the fast techno. not rock and heavy metal stuff. songs like my generation, speed over beethoven, cartoon heroes....etc. plz give me advice on which game to buy as a begginer who has played a couple of times at the arcade, (i'm decent at 2 step songs), and plz tell me which game has the fast techno less rock and heavy metal stuff music if yall don't mind. (NO EYE TOY not planning on getting one either.) plz help. thank you |

Em, welcome to the wonderful magical world of Dance Dance Revolution! *confetti*
Okay, I'd recommend DDR Extreme, which has some cool stuff, then DDR Max2, and then Max, since I haven't tried Max.
Now, as for a pad, if you are planning on spending 20 dollars or less, then get a soft pad. If you want something more high quality and durable, get a hard pad from eBay for about $150. If you want the best of the best, then get a Red Octane Hard Pad for about $250. There's also the Ignition Pad, a foam pad that's like a really padded soft pad, $99 from your local game store.
Hope this was helpful, have fun! _________________

I myself prefer Max2 over Extreme and Max, but Max has some songs that were originally on 5th Mix IIRC; songs like My Generation and the like were on Max.
Therefore, you'd probably enjoy Max the most. _________________

If you're looking to spend maybe $70, get the Extreme Bundle.
If you're looking to spending $150 get RO Ignition with Extreme
If you're Looking for maybe $250 get RO hard pad with Extreme
If you're looking to spend top dolar ($370) and the best quality, get a Cobalt Flux with Extreme. |

Welcome, Mr Pillow!
If you're looking for techno tracks I'd recommend against buying DDR Extreme US because while it does have some good techno, it's also filled with an abundance of pop songs. You can also import games. I think the Japanese Extreme release will have more of what you're looking for.
Try the Console Games forum; you'll find lots of info about the different DDR home releases.

Extreme is good, but i'd recommend max. Even though it has no beginner mode it has plenty of easy songs. And it has my generation and techno songs like sandstorm. Hope i could help. |

Yes, if techno is what you're looking for, go with DDRMax. It is also cheaper than all the rest. |

I think MAX has the best Song List. Extreme is...not like JP-EX...MAX2/MAX has a lot of techno. _________________

I'd reccommend Max2 personally. It's the only mix where I can count the number of songs I dislike on one hand. _________________

USmax can be hard to find but that also depends on where you are. I live in Montana so my Best Buy still has 5 or more sitting on the shelf. I prefer Max2 over the others but Max and Max2 are almost dead heats for me. I'd say if you can find Max get it because it will become extremely hard to find very soon. _________________

For your tastes, I would recommend Max2 first, just because even if it's not all "techno," there's a lot more similar stuff than in the other mixes. Then I'd go with Max and then Extreme. Extreme has a lot of songs that are kind of out of the feel, especially all the ones from Karaoke Revolution (YMCA should die!!!). Pads, you're a beginner, I'd go with some cheap $20 ones from EB or such. MadCatz work well, just take good care of them. Mine's lasted over 10 months. _________________

Max2 has alot of techno-ish fast paced stuff..while Extreme has more oldies slower paced type of stuff. But max2 still has some oldies stuff and Extreme some techno stuff. I haven't played Max.. |
