What are the chances of this being common? I'm sure there are >5 High Schools who have a machine (which, it sounds like that's what you're going for), and, only a handful of colleges have one, too.
Why don't you just look at machine locations for your state/province/country, look to see if there are any schools listed, and contact them about this?
Or, why don't you ask at your regional forums?

NDSU, where I'm attending college, in Fargo, ND does not (but I wish it did) however MSUM across the river does (they've got a 3rd mix I think...). _________________

There's one on campus at the University of Central Florida, but its been "out of service" since a little after the second week of january.
Its actually in one of the campus restaurants, so its not the property of the school. _________________

I go to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. We just started a DDR club, and we are in the works of getting our own machine for the school. The school will pay for the bulk of it, but we are trying to look like we did something by holding a modest fund-raiser.
CS is a mountain city, and most people here have no clue AT ALL what DDR is. It's just "that dance game." The people that are good at it form a pretty close circle, as we all learned together. CS does, however, have a HUGE number of noobs that are on beginner and light. Quite a few go to UCCS. It will be interesting to see who begins to play at school. _________________

Well, we had to convince the school that DDR was of benefit to the individual student. We did this by showing that it was of cardiovascular benefit to play. Living in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, altitude and stamina are everything when it comes to exercise. That is why the U.S. Olympic Training Center is here. Athletes train here in the insane altitude, so when they go back to compete at sea level, they are super-human. DDR players here have extraordinary stamina at lower altitudes. 10 footers feel like moderate 9's. Max 300 feels like End of the Century on heavy. On the other hand, when someone from say...sea level comes to DDR in Colorado Springs, normal 9 footers require the stamina of 10 footers. They just can't breath up here. Most start sweating and panting after just one set. So, basically, we proved that DDR is a great form of exercise, and it would benefit people to play it. _________________

I just applied to CS ! I'm glad to hear they have ddr, unlike the other hippie liberal arts colleges. |

Our school just let us have a DDR Club, and we are transporting Metal Pads back and forth from house to school, but we are planning to get a 3rd or 4th Mix in the future and get an Upgrade kit for a 7th or 8th mix. It's all a matter of convincing them, and giving them the cheapest option possible. It's a whole lot cheaper to get a 3rd or 4th mix and the upgrade kit, rather than the straight out 8th mix machine. It all comes down to what the school says. |

I showed my gym teacher in hopes of convincing them to bring DDR in. I actually had to carry my PS2 and pads to school on foot! The gym teachers approved of it, but the school budget couldn't afford a DDR machine. I don't think a fundraiser alone could do it. |

you know what, im from new fairfield connecticut and there is a private school around here that allows kids play during gym class but as for actual machines i havnt heard of that. But lets be honest people if your school HAD a machine how many people do you think would play it? I go to a school of about 600 and i can say a total of ~30 would play. Where i go to its a very rich suburban town so alot of the kids would be gay over it and say its stupid. What we do have though is a Anime club, im not part of it, but they are having a DDR competition after school (5$ a person) and im joining and u better believe im gonna take people down! _________________

Every year the stupid gym teacher at my school likes to have us do a whole "dance" thing...this usually just includes like...retarded square dances and stuff. Last year when we were forced to do it, I was thinking I'd rather play DDR, and this was before I even played...Soon after I started, I was thinking "I should bring in my stuff!"...then I forgot about it, because my school is incredibly...sad...and nobody would allow it...if they did, I'd just be picked on...'course if I was picked on, I could challenge those who did...and then...well, it'd just be a big mess... |
