Hi there, long time DDR player but first time poster~
I played a few songs with someone I had never played with before, and even though we were on the same level (Heavy songs mainly 8 footers some 9 footers), he was doing spins and I simply couldn't do them.
I've encountered them before, mainly in the Supernova song "True Love" by Jun but I was wondering if anyone had any song suggestions for easing my way into spins. I'm not good at it, and therefore want to work on it! Thanks :} |

"Bend Your Mind" and "Queen of Light" on In The Groove have some simple spins. _________________

for single step spins instead of jump spins, try think ya better d
for 1-2-3 pattern spins, try paranoia kcet or frozen ray
for jump spins, try love shine _________________

Back in the day, we had to walk 15 miles uphill both ways in the snow barefoot with a whining sister on our back just so we could do some damn spins on Butterfly. |

DDR X PS2:
Sound of Freedom
Butterfly (2008 X-edit)
Saturn
I love spinning around these charts. It's pretty hard to get used to Sound of Freedom, since you have to spin in the opposite direction that your body wants to go to not end up backwards. Butterfly's spins are kinda fast, they may take getting used to. Saturn's spins are easy, and they're fun. There might be more, but those are the ones off the top of my head.
Oh yeah, Trip Machine (DDR Extreme PS2) has a nice long spin.
If all else fails, learn to double-step. I do it most of the time, and it works, even on fast songs. But that may change a little if I get a metal pad... |

What great suggestions! Although, I don't have an Extreme machine near me, and I don't like playing home versions at all. I do have access to Supernova and Supernova2 machines though, and In The Groove2.
I didn't know Love Shine in Heavy had spins! What part exactly, could you mark it on the stepchart?
I guess being a newer player totally puts me at a disadvantage! ;{ |

I'm also pretty unable to do spins. But I'm starting to try more when I play songs on easy difficulties. Because if you're playing very easy songs you will probably want to spice it up with some excess movement?
I someday dream of being like this guy but it seems a ways off... |

Yeah, I tried this. I'm teaching my boyfriend how to play and hes just now getting into heavy so we do really easy songs like Peace (BeForu) and like uh....Freedom (I think also beforu)....Stars*** (terra)
you know, really easy stuff
so im trying to add some spins into those, since im doing easy stuff now anyways. but its just so hard to train myself to move my body against what it naturally wants to do! |

Uhm, that guy that's doing the spins in Sunkiss Drop is ok... The spins he's doing are forced and he's using the bar to do them. I do the spins a bit differently in that after each gap, I do a half turn. so after two sets of crossovers, I've done a complete spins. Yah, the spin is still forced, but it looks a bit more fluid. I'll try to get a few videos of my spins on a few songs if you'd like to see them.
Some songs with some easy spins include:
Think ya better D
Saturday Night Love
Can Be Real
More complicated spins include
Frozen Ray
Happy Angel
Burning the Floor Momo Mix
Trip Machine
Even more complicated include
Burning the Floor blue fire mix
Midnite Blaze
Jet World
R3
Dynamite Rave Down Bird Sota Mix.
Trip Machine Luv Mix
Sync Heavy and Oni
One thing to be mindful is that a lot of people do forced spins where unnecessary and wonder why they are missing steps. R3's march is one good example. There are NO spins in that, but people try to force a spin in there and look cool. No, the spins occur during pack of streams after the beginning and before the march.
Trip Machine Luv mix involves a stream of complete 180 degree turning that end with spins, but people try to spin at the wrong place a LOT and think they're doing it right. The more you attempt to do spins, the better you will get. You'll eventually get to a point where you'll do a spin during sight read and be surprised you pulled it off. |

Trip Machine, Expert
Seriously it's like a part in the middle is like a training program for spinning
Just do that song a few times and I know you'll get it _________________

My favorite spinning songs are think ya better D, Trip Machine, Super Star (from nonstop megamix), Forever Sunshine, Mobo*Moga, and Bad Routine.
Also, the original Paranoia is almost entirely spins, but they're quick and I wind up too dizzy to do them all. _________________

I think D2R has some good spinnable areas. If you want to get really dizzy, do it on the jump, single, jump single, jump single etc chain on heavy or standard cuz you'll make like 6 spins Also that one b4u song my Naoki on the original DDR for the PC and PS1 was like my official trick song on heavy. I did a whole routine cuz the steps were just perfect for all kinds of craziness. It's the regular version, not the orchestral version. |

B4U doesn't have an Orchestra Groove mix, you're thinking of Brilliant2U. That B4U only has a few spinnable moments (that is, without force spins). B2U has many more. |

Ok that comment was completely pointless. You might as well say the best way to improve at playing DDR is not playing. Seriously, just because you may not enjoy spinning doesn't mean someone else may not like to expand their abilities by trying something other than bar hugging and double stepping. |

oh fine
Fuck around and experiment on light mode and you'll be able to spin in no time. Keep in mind that there are many more ways to spin than just
and
...Freckles light in particular.
