I have size 7 girls feet so it's almost impossible for me to hit two arrows with one foot. I have to move a lot more than most players. It's unfair.

If you ask me (which may not amount to much), you are not missing out on much, Moonbeam Funk, because I personally consider it much more fun and better looking to use one's hands. Coincidentally, people who used their hands ended up beating their opponents who used their feet for hands in competitions I have watched on youtube although they were close. Moving around more just means more exercise, so I would type you are not at the disadvantage. I do not believe I have ever tried hitting hands with my feet because my TX-1000 home pad won't allow it with those big screws and washers, nor do I really care for trying it as I consider using hands more fun. Of course, I do not know if bracketing (is that the term for hitting two arrows with one foot?) is necessary at higher levels.

I very strongly disagree. There is a BIG jump between DDR 10s and ITG 14s.

Extreme's 10s maybe, but the "10s" we're getting now (pluto relinquish, paranoia hades, trigger) are pretty comparable in difficulty if not length (also ddr songs ARE getting longer these days so the length gap isn't as significant either)

I think the most difficult thing to get past is foot-speed. I could do 140 BPM 16th streams for probably an hour without getting tired (that is pure endurance) but once it goes over 170, I can hardly do it in small bursts. 14s usually have a lot of very, very fast streams, and maybe some purple bullshit, so I can't do them.

16ths at 170 are comparable to 8ths at 340. Pluto relinquish, faxx, felm and trigger are 400 bpm.

you think it takes a few weeks to go from 500 step to FAing 3000+ step songs?

i'm saying that given the japanese mentality and the fact that 5 minute long songs that are occasional 16th note runs with 8th notes interspersed are not hard i don't think it'd be quite as one-sided as you seem to think

I still think ITG 14s are harder than DDR 10s by a huge amount. Holy Orders, for example, has not only lots of stream and 24th runs, but any time it isnt stream, its 16th note step-jumps and jackhammers. Just the fact that there really isnt a break anywhere makes it hard stamina-wise.

I think Japanese players would certainly catch up to 15s and such, but it would take any given player a few months to get used to playing em.

well it's a fairly valid response considering twice now (well, three times after this post) we've said we are discussing ITG officials and not customs and I am fairly certain holy orders isn't an official chart

I only care about officials, everything else is just for fun. What does my score mean when it's on a chart some random guy wrote? If it's from 1 or 2 I feel like my score has meaning.

Your score is just that, your score. I play for myself, not to impress other people with scores on whatever songs. I improve because I want to do better on a song that I enjoy, that has a stepchart that is fun to play. I want to do well on it because I like it, because I ejoy playing it.

Eventually, doing that over and over again with the same charts that I like gets tired and boring, thus I've moved almost completely away from all but a few officials which I genuinely enjoy and I play mostly custom songs now. I also maintain the songlist on the local dedicab, which helps out a lot also as we have about 700 songs total on the machine now.

HOPE THIS HELPS E1.gif!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111111

I don't really know anyone who plays that cares about what kinds of scores people have on officials these days either. We all just play for fun, even those who have sde'd almost every 9, 10, 11, and 12.

In my parts official scores seem to matter more than a bunch of custom hits that people like putting on their USB drives.

Though there is an almost equal love for custom and official.

Sounds like you only know people who've mastered the officials. Most people haven't, so we still care about them because we're still trying to get better.

I don't know why half the people on this forum have some problem with ITG customs. Every time anyone mentions them, someone is there doggy about them like they're blasphemy. I don't complain when you guys talk about DDR 7s and 8s, even though I couldn't care less about them.

I'm on this forum because I enjoy dancing games and so do all of you. I didn't say DDR sucked or that we shouldn't talk about it, I didn't say ITG was better, I just talked about ITG because that's what I know about. If I talked about DDR, it would all be coming out of my buttocks because I don't know crap about that game. I try to respect DDR, could you guys please try to respect ITG customs?

Anyway, people had been talking about 14s so Holy Orders wasn't off topic.

Let's just get over it already, DDR and ITG both exist and are played and talked about.

Agreed.

Not to mention that custom charts aren't regulated. How can you be sure that the Heaven chart person X got a ** on is the exact same Heaven chart person Y got a *** on? All it takes is someone to edit 5 steps in one area to make or break a chart's difficulties. A great example of this could be the steps for Be Lovin' on Extreme. If someone just changed that step jump part in the middle to something a little less difficult, it would make the song waaaaaaay easier to AAA. Even if the changes were just minor.

I'm trying to form a proper reply to that without sounding like I come off as a biased dick but I can't find the right words. So instead, I am going to give you this quote that explains a portion of why I find a problem with ITG 14s/15s, especially when they aren't ITG songs at the least bit.

I can see how you find this a problem with custom songs. I would agree, but for the most part, I've never had trouble distinguishing exactly what chart someone meant. Maybe it's just that everyone I know stays relatively up-to-date on the current ITG scene, and we know who made what chart etc. I also don't play too many obscure songs.

I tried to start another discussion about this in the ITG thread.

The thing is with custom charts is that you can not clearly label something as x difficulty without thinking about what Suko mentioned.

Even with ITG officials its difficult to really state whether or not the difficulty they assigned actually is *appropriate* for the chart.

The best way to ascertain difficulty is when you have a large enough pool of comparison to base it from.

An example: I think ITG 9s are harder than DDR 9s.

OK, we have 50+ expert 9s [I don't remember the exact number] to use from ITG and a few dozen hard 9s.

DDR has made at least 100 9 level charts on the expert and challenge level (probably more like 150), so there's a good pool of comparison there.

Long story short, a clear line has been drawn for level 9 charts, so we can make the argument whether or not ITG 9s are harder than DDR 9s etc.

----------------------------

Once you get to 10, the line starts to blur out and it gets more difficult to ascertain what is a level 10+ difficulty. This is an approximation, but it looks something like this (where faults occurred):

Level 9: 95% certainty (Sakura, Arrabiatta, etc.)
Level 10: 80% certainty (roughly half of all 10 level DDR charts - ITG pretty much nailed it)
Level 11: 65% certainty (insufficient data, but ITG pretty much nailed it)
Level 12: 40% certainty (Delirium ~ 11, insufficient data, unclear transition from 11 to 12 [e.g. Euphoria, Determinator]).
Level 13: 25% certainty [insufficient data, unclear transition, somewhat speculative]
Level 14: 10% certainty [no official data, mostly speculative]
Level 15+: 3% certainty [no official data, almost completely speculative]

If anything, custom charts should start building more in the 11-14 range so we as a community can more firmly establish the transition from one difficulty to the next. This is why: When I play a 9 or a 10, I am almost completely certain of what I will see when I play those charts (with a few exceptions). We need that same predictability when things move upward in difficulty.

I don't have a problem with customs, but if you are going to reference them, give some information and a place where it can be found so we know exactly what you are talking about. Also, keep in mind what I just said above.
