There's nothing wrong with step-jumps as long as they're used properly. Most of X uses them properly (Two exceptions I can think of are the beginning of On the Break and the end of Ticket to Bombay, but both are very doable, albeit a bit annoying at those parts). SN2 has some...memorable charts that do anything but use them properly (NGO, Unreal, Arrabbiata, and TMP to name a few). _________________

NGO and TMP, I'll give ya. But Unreal's chart was dead-on right. And Arrabbiata... that actually had more broken *stream sequences* than it did jumps. And BGDC? That was actually one of my favorite easier stages.
If you guys hate step-jumps that much, be glad you weren't around for 3rd Mix/SSR!!! Seriously. |

Awkward jumps in the middle of 8th streams in a 225BPM song is dumbbb.
I don't like Unreal because I really can't hear what those jumps go to, if anything.
Big Girls Don't Cry is a really good chart, it's too bad the cover blows :/.
Oh, if anyone wants an HP2 mp3 pack...

You've never played DDR US PS1 or DDR 2nd Mix either? Or even any of the other AC remixes? Most of the pre-EXTREME ones had Dub-I-Dub (I don't know about 5th mix, but MAX and MAX2 didn't.)
It's mostly the 2nd Mix chart with a bit of Maniac2 (or is it just new?) thrown in. It's also a different verse, just like the other ones except Butterfly and maybe Get Up N Move.
And DDR 3rd Mix really did run rampant with them. _________________

For those following DDR Furu Furu Party (The Japanese HP2), it looks like that games licenses will own HP2's.
We know of two J-Pop songs (Whether they are covers or not, we do not know), but now we also know that HP2 will have a tie-in with Avex for usage of songs from its "House Nation" albums (They're sort of like Dancemania albums).

Lets try not to give Konami any crazy ideas! (Maybe if it comes out for the Wii, it will have a rope attachment for the controller, then we swing the rope around and rustle up some arrows!) LOL!!!! |

In DDRX, if you hit a freeze arrow but then let go of it, do you lose your combo? It has happened to me a number of times, but they didnt have this in older games. _________________

Yep. Freeze Arrow misses now break your combo. Interesting they managed to sneak that one by us with all the complaining about...um...everything else.

The thing that bugs me about DDRX is that they completely blew the "10th Anniversary Celebration" thing. They had a few old licenses, and that's it. Even a nostalgic Xmix would've been an awesome touch. The fact that story mode had locations like MAX Carnival, EXTREME Arcade, and EXTRA Mall just killed me. I'm also pretty sure there weren't any Xbox crossovers here, though I may be wrong.
The announcers aren't too bad except that they talk way too often and have that one 'singing' clip that throws you off no matter the tempo of the song.
I liked a bunch of the licenses, story mode was cool (though there could've been a few more interesting missions), and I continue to enjoy the interface.
I was playing DDRMax a few days ago, and I've been wondering... how come the load times seem to get longer with each mix? I was playing Oni and didn't even have time to take a sip of soda because the next song was up so fast! But X can't even load preview music without a couple seconds pause. _________________

@Reenee: I know. And it's FUN. Anyway, to the point: Votum Stellarum is probably one of those songs that "grows" on you. I mean, I didn't like .59 when I first heard THAT, and now I even know what it means o3o *recalls DDR@NYC last year*
And yes. I don't think there are any good announcers, even back in the 'day', if you can call it that.
@Nightime: What 10? I mean, there are quite a few gems in here, like Wine Red (See what I mean, Reenee?), Why Not, Bloody Tears, and especially, my personal favourite Bemani song, Blind Justice (!!). I also know that all the boss songs are getting attention, including Xmix 5 (I'm not sure if that counts) but there is no set 10% that I know of.
This is true, but then again, is Dance Celebration, Lift You Up and on the bounce really urban? I see what you mean, with Taj He Spitz and...um...the Taj He Spitz remix, but not much is urban. Just the theme, Rage's three costumes and that sort of stuff. You know, the minutiae.
This is also true. I never noticed it, but I recently found that, say, if a song is in EXAC and we don't get it by SNUS, we won't get it at all, i.e. Stoic, MAX. (period) and the like. And yes. I know there are exceptions.
WOO!!! 2MB COVERS=WIN, except Horatio will lose all Horationess and turn more into a techno song. I don't think that someone that technically churns out Relinquish, Kcet and the like will change just for one song.
Why are you so right? STOP BEING RIGHT. Anyway, it's true, there's too much of a difficulty level. It seems that all of the substantial, regular Expert steps (i.e. regular 8's) are gone. But that's why Edit Mode's there, right? And On The Bounce Oni isn't comparable to HDVO. Or even HDVH.
Finally! You stopped being right! TAJ HE SPITZ SUCKS END OF STORY. SO DOES DANCE CELEBRATION.
Yeah, but there's no Xmix in Edit Mode, so why bother? I have some GREAT steps in mind for Linear Momentum, but Konami's being stupid (like usual) and not letting me D:
I've been thinking that too...there's going to be, inevitably, new X songs, maybe new musical covers, i.e. My Favourite Things? Hm...I'm definitely importing this one, but it's too bad I can't read Japanese...guess I'm going to have to play-to-earn!
I loved X, and I'm glad you agree. Konami sued Roxor for a REASON. They're not going to be absorbed by them now! DDR=/=ITG, I thought this site of all ones would know that.
@Sharz: YES I DO HAVE A BLOODY TEARS EDIT. THAT'S GOING ON YOUTUBE THOUGH. MY UN IS ORANGELOUNGE123.
@Coolkid: If this is being Konami's doggy, then I like it. X is a quality product, more so than Extreme or MAX2.
@Hlavco: The tenth was a misleading statement. I was looking forward to other Dynamite Rave, B4U, Brilliant2U, Flow, Drop the Bomb, etc. remixes, not freakin' Taj He Spitz! And they could at LEAST include another MAX that actually goes back to its roots: The rap of instrumentals.
The Story Mode was cool, yes, but it NEEDED SCRIPTED MODIFIERS. I don't know if Reenee criticized this already (Hey! He's got almost everything D but where's my Wave? Brake? Etc?
And about the load times? It's because Konami wants to prolong DDRFreak's doggy about the game for as long as possible
HAVE A NICE DAY THANK YOU PLEASE
Verdict: DDRX is sentenced to ten years of nostalgia.
Verdict 2: Reenee is sentenced to start hating crap, i.e. Votum Stellarum.
Verdict 3: Nightime is sentenced to STOP BEING RIGHT ALL THE TIME!
Verdict 4: Sharz didn't do anything wrong :|
Verdict 5: Coolkid is sentenced to change his username. Completely unrelated but OH WELL.
Verdict 6: Hlavco is sentenced to see through the smog of the streets in Street Master Mode to see that it's actually one of the worst mission modes yet.

Good announcers? Play DDR SOLO. Better yet, play DDR SOLO *badly.* You'll see what I'm talking about. (If nothing else, listen to the Nonstop Megamix album of it.)
Well, at the time of my posting, the (2008 X-Edit) stages and the Final/Extra/Encore song groups (plus SABER WING) did receive 90% (or at *least* 85%) of all DDRX attention. Besides, most people with arcade access have already played SN2 songs like crazy. I'm glad to see people broading their horizons now, though.
Dance Celebration, certainly. If DDR isn't part of mainstream urban culture by now, when will it ever be? It's even integrated into most schools' PE classes now. And while songs like "Slip Out" might not pop into mind, I associate it's sound with the feeling of being in a mall or school. Other songs pertain to different situations too, such as "Boy (DJ Irene Rockstar Mix)," so yes. Urban != "Gangsta."
Keep in mind, that 2MB's remix gems include those of "ORION.78" and "La Senorita." This, combined with the fact that "Horatio" is already considered the most challenging song in the game already makes it the *perfect* song to cover. Did "Healing Vision -Angelic Mix-" sound any less "Healing Visiony"?
Looking for an equal of HDV? Play Trigger or SABER WING (AKIRA ISHIHARA Headshot Remix) on Challenge. Or, you know; Pluto/PR. Even PR Standard is honestly formidable.
Sorry, you've already admitted that I'm always right. But most of what you've said (like Wine Red/Lift Me Up), I totally agree on. I like THS because it combines a catchy tune and rap effects with that old-school, NES/8-bit sound really well. Plus, Drew Campbell pwns Chuck Norris. Not to say the charts are the most *challenging* in the game, but they DO fit the song to a tee; and they are fun to play and show off with, even though they're not hard. But then, I also like Do You Want To, too. So nyahh.

WOO! WOO! We just wanna have fun, yo" |

2MB mostly remixes Naoki songs.
I doubt he'll remix Horatio.
What most likely will happen is that a Naoki boss song and 2MB remix that were not on X CS will appear on the AC version (Like Pluto and Relinquish in SN2). _________________

Plus, IIRC, Swingers is licensed and a lot of the other licenses fit that psuedo description. Harmony Machine is still Harmony Machine and they still produce trip-hop, which is arguably urban. It's at least as edgy as Tittle Tattle is. But really, if people are going to argue about how songs don't fit into this âtheme,â that's sad, because it proves you people really are just lo oking for something to whine about. Nobody complained that I Do I Do I Do wasn't EXTREME enough, did they. Don't bash this game for having multiple genres. Heaven forbid Konami listens to that complaint _________________

The songs were advertised as being more urban and edgier, but most people agree that they weren't. I don't know why you'd think they're looking for something to complain about. Honestly, I think it's pretty justified, and I don't usually say that about complaints.
The song list is not exactly urban, but I like it anyway. _________________

Well, no one has started up a convo on UNIVERSE 3 yet, so I'll post a lil' something now about it. All I have to say is, I've only played maybe 5 songs total out of the entire songlist, and they already impress me a HELLUVA LOT more than DDRX's songlist. 2008 is a repeat of 2004's debacle, where ULTRAMIX 2 was sooooo much better than EXTREME US.
The one complaint I would make right now is (of course) the framerate...even when you turn the bg movies off, there is still a generic one that cycles and affects the arrow framerate, and turning bg brightness to 0% doesn't help either. UNIVERSE 3 is VERY impressive as of right now, and not by the number of Challenge steps they have added, but just by songlist alone. Very impressive Konami. More to come... _________________
