That song seems fine to me. Good people will be able to play it fine. You don't have to move your feet to the center, you just have to jump. It's like playing Frozen Ray without the spins.
Will it be difficult sure, but done whine so much.
I wish they would use shock arrows in other formations. |

judging from this video im, i'm assuming that shock arrows come in 4's, and that stepping on said arrows causes the other steps to vanish momentarily. I give up.. konami just needs to stop...I actually thought the shock arrows would be nice..no wonder i quit playing ddr.. |

zmaxxx, yes and yes - shock arrows come in 4s and stepping on one makes the other arrows disappear for a second or two.
Had my first encounter with them today .. for the heck of it I'm playing the dance master mode. Why? because that way I'll actually play all the songs - might not in regular game mode. In 2 of the dancers' "chapters" there are challenge songs. Not anything heavy - I'm talking 4 or 5 footers.
But I was not expecting the shock arrows the first song and they are absurd, and almost as annoying as the MCs. There could have or should have been a better way to implement these if they were going to use them. _________________

Hahaha! I'm REALLY looking forward to this hitting arcades!

Doesn't StepMania do that with mines for some songs though? Also, keep in mind it is possible they might ditch the shock arrows if enough fans complain about it or they come to realize they do not work or otherwise suit their intentions.
I actually think shock arrows are cool for lack of a more sophisticated word (what is the synonym for the slang word, "spiffy", "nifty"?). I like the color and the sound they make, and how it is almost like another step jumping to the center or the back of the pad. That video makes it look as if they sort of ruined that player's game, so maybe they are potentially a bit annoying for tougher songs -- I cannot pass songs on that difficulty -- plus, the dude had modifiers. What I do not like is a bunch of mines intermingled with arrows on StepMania, not that I am opposed to the idea of mines. _________________

I've tried playing Horatio Oni on SM, and mines are much more frustrating than shock arrows. _________________

That makes sense considering shock arrows always come in all arrows, making them easier to avoid than mines, which can be scattered individually throughout a bunch of arrows. I am opposed to neither shock arrows, nor mines -- I consider them both good ideas. The fact the sounds they emit are not annoying (at least not to me) is probably worthy of my praise/commendation. If shock arrows cannot be deactivated (which I do not believe they can be), it is understandable because they are part of the song's stepchart. Of course, it is inconsistent for them to be that way since mines are deactivateable. _________________

...not to mention freezes, offbeat steps, and now jumps too. |

um... no. mines are overcharted a lot, but they fit the song. shock arrows are pretty much random.
but I think they will be somewhat of an interesting challenge, that is, if people try to AAA song like haratio oni. I wish iamchris4life still played, I bet he could do it. _________________

At least that one is harder than the heavy chart. Oni charts that are easier than the heavy chart are really stupid. |

Shocks and STOPS do not mix! Very evil, yucky move! (Pause #1) Otherwise, they're actually used rather well in that song. |

BUUUUUMP
Seriously, shock arrows make me hate this game. At least you could turn off the mines in this when you first play. Ugh. _________________

Shock arrows are a good idea, I think, it's just the way Konami lazily used them is absolutely terrible. None of the Shock Arrow charts have any thought put into them at all. Konami just took the heavy chart, replaced random arrows with Shock Arrows every few beats, changed like 2 arrows around, and stuck it on Oni. I hate it. Thank GOD Horatio is the only boss song with Shock Arrows, and that it has a good heavy chart. It's unfortunate that Saber Wing got the Shock Arrow treatment, though. Why can't the boss songs be more like on the bounce? I love that song, the Oni steps are perfect. What Konami needs to do for DDR X2 or X-squared or whatever is remove all of the Shock Arrow charts and chart some REAL challenge steps for those songs. Konami can try to use Shock Arrows better, but I'm pretty sure they'll fail. |

I agree. Shock arrows are a good idea in theory, but the way Konami used them completely ruined it. |

i actually played that chart for the first time today. I figured it was like Charlene Expert but i died quickly. You can definatley see the laziness in chart creativity in Get up & Move 08' edit challenge. _________________

I actually meant that if you used mines and shock arrows in the exact same way, it'd be harder with mines. _________________

I dont like shock arrows, but you have to stop whining about difficulty. If you want it to be easy, play on Light all day long.
Vertex^2 might be an extremely difficult song, but you can see the work put into it. It has everything, mines, hands, BPM changes..etc, but it's still an awesome song. I wish I could say the same for Horatio Challenge..for example. _________________
