I can relate to this. I've tried Challenge songs while I was still on Light.

Also, when you print out a stepchart to a song and use your kitchen floor tiles as the arrows to step on.

Oh, I used to do this all the time, but it was the tiles in my bedroom, not the kitchen. Still, same concept. biggrin.gif

LOL! So this happens to more people than just me? I've actually thrown out a few pairs because of that.

- Not just tap to music, but make up your own 'simfile' while your listening to any kind of music with your fingers.
- Pretend to play DDR on squares on the ground (tiles, cracks, ect.)
- Randomly play 'carpet-mod' anywhere/anytime of day. Sometimes I do this when i'm walking my dog and waiting for it to finish it's business.

  • When you play your console version of DDR really hard that your legs starts to fail then stop so you end the console DDR session, too tired to even play Stepmania on the keyboard, but find yourself cruising YouTube for DDR vids to watch. E10.gif (Just realized I was doing it just now)

-You've AAA'd more than one song.

When you look at the calendar and realize that today is the tenth anniversary of the first time you played DDR.

Really? I thought that DDR first came out on Nov. 20th, 1998. I've heard that this is one reason for the title of the song 20, November. Was I misinformed?

No, you are correct -- although I thought the debut date was November 21, 1998 (it is either that or November 20th like you typed, so I believe the song "20 November" does have something to do with that). Yes, it has actually been less than a decade since Dance Dance Revolution debuted, so we all are going to have to wait for that one -- my tenth anniversary since I first tried the game will be September 2016O_o You know, playing something too much is bad -- playing Dance Dance Revolution too much would be playing it in so much excess that it interferes with important events. I suppose playing too much would be playing to the point of forgetting to eat, losing sleep, missing dates and other appointments, etc. Of course, I suppose this thread was not started with the intent to take the statement too literally or seriously riiight.gif I have been known to see arrows when I close my eyes, or even when I still have my eyes open (not hallucinations, just still in my mind). I suppose my "You know you have been playing Dance Dance Revolution too much when..." statement for now will be: "...you own at least two Dance Dance Revolution games for the same system." Yes, I am guilty of this: I own all seven Playstation 2 games (this is of course not counting Disney Channel Edition -- I do not own that one). And I did not mention Pump It Up Exceed, Beatmania, StepMania, and Dance Praise (not to mention Guitar Hero III and Rock Band).

Yes, you were misinformed. That song was in Beatmania before DDR existed.

Nope, that song has nothing to do with the release date of Dance Dance Revolution, as it was a song in Beatmania (and Beatmania 2nd Mix) before Dance Dance Revolution was released.

pleasedon'thurtme wrote:

Nope, it's been a tad bit over a decade. By the time Konami was showing Dance Dance Revolution 1.0 at the Fall 1998 Tokyo Game Show (October 9-11, 1998), it was already in arcades in Osaka. Wikipedia is wrong.

EDIT-CLARIFICATION: Yes, version 1.5 of DDR, which added internet ranking, maniac mode (another used to be the hardest!), and a couple of songs ("Trip Machine" and "Make It Better"), along with a few cosmetic changes was released in November 1998. However, DDR itself was in arcades before that. Both Aaron (of Aaron in Japan) and I played it in October 1998.
