It seems like they're switching it up here. X seems to be more like a UM/Uni game, whereas Uni3 has a PS2 feel to it. Song list wise, anyway. |
I got that vibe too......too bad I no longer have a 360....
Hurry up with that ps3 bemani konami! |

Wow, I can't wait for these games to drop. I've noticed the overall quality of the Konami Originals has been stepped up A LOT since the days of, say, EX2. Even the licenses just keep getting better.
DDRX looks like it's going to be sweet, I just looked at the songlist and stunned they have Wine Red (the remix from Snakes On a Plane) by Tommie Sunshine. I don't know too many of the other new songs but it's good to see DDR picking up all these new licenses and even contracting new Konami artists to make the originals. HP2 and Uni3 might look worth getting just for the music but I'll have to wait on that and see.
Great to see DDR making a comeback! _________________

Sure, I guess.
Urban.
The word speaks for itself. Usually people think that "Urban=Rap=Bad" Konami has cleared that up for us. "Urban=diversity=good". Nu-uh. Nup. BAD. Sorry, big K, but DDRX could've been a whole lot better. I mean, we didn't get ANY of the planet songs besides Stars, and we're supposed to put them back into the city?? NO. THIS DOES NOT WORK. I say continue with the DDR SuperNOVA interfaces--sleek, not flashy, and NOT BRIGHT. OW. Just watching those AC betas hurts my eyes. THE SKY, THE SKYYYY!!! No, it's just no good. I mean, it would be really cool if the game could sense what time it was and adjust the sky in the background accordingly, but seeing as how they have only five or so days left* I guess what's locked in place is locked in place.
Verdict for DDRX the Urban: Sentenced to take a hint from Animal Crossing.

Violently Average ... the Animal Crossing reference cracked me up!
Yeah, um, urban. It really was nice of Konami to let us know (especially all of us who live in "urban" areas/cities) just what urban really is in their alternate universe. Their version of "urban" does not compute - at least not with me.
I'll admit, I jumped the gun and pre-ordered DDRX. Right now I'm not so sure that was one of my more brilliant ideas.
I know Tommie Sunshine's work, have CDs with his remixes, I dj and love techno/electronica/mash-ups/remixes, etc. ... however, I don't always love Tommie S's take on a song. I find he can be, for lack of a better word, heavy-handed with some songs. The only remix of his I can think of atm that I actually really like is PatD The Only Difference - which is also from Snakes on a Plane. Why didn't they contact Ian Golden for some remixes? He's an amazing DJ, or Paul Oakenfold - I know he's worked with Konami.
As far as US CS versions go, in different ways, Ex2 and Max2 are my favorites in terms of songs, most step charts, backgrounds and dancers.
I loathe SN, like to the point where I haven't unlocked all the songs. The mission mode is horrible, the cover songs are mostly bleh (and that's with artists I like! ... I just don't wanna DDR to them). So I'm hoping against hope that X isn't anything like SN. I will be po'ed big time.
I just hope with X, if the bg is as obnoxious as some of them look to be, you can either turn them off or really really darken them. I personally don't need bright flashy bg or videos - I've found many of them them to be distracting and they can trigger an MM attack. _________________

Someone hasn't been informed of SCREEN FILTER.
You can darken the lanes.
P.S. The sky is awesome. _________________

Is that an option on X?
PS: The idea or the sky in the background? |

It's an option on X (AC), no word on whether it will be on the CS though (There's rumors that we're getting .5x increments in X CS as well). _________________

MB - I wish I could play this now (Actually, I probably won't ever play it. No 360.)
PR - Nice to see them bring it back in a new mix.
DM - WHAT?! OH WOW... _________________

the only problem I have with X's theme is it looks too much like Flow: UDU.
I actually like the sky background. It's better than green squares or color changing cubes _________________

Gamestop says X and HP2 are shipped. I wonder if they'll have them tomorrow, it seems kinda odd for a DDR game to be shipped on Friday. Hopefully. |
My gamestop said they will (west coast) _________________
