Socks when I play on mod-soft pads at home. Shoelace-less shoes in the arcade. |

I wear laceless sketchers. They're laceless because I'm lazy. Their sketchers because they were the only place that had black laceless sneakers in my size. (My feet are too large.)
They're fine for DDR but I can play in anything as long as they stay on my feet. |

Size 12 Etnies Callicut in white.
(kinda old picture, the shoes now have black laces instead of the white in the picture)
I PA pretty good in them, and I've passed quite a few 10's while wearing them. The only problem with them, and it isn't really even an issue is that they tend to be a little louder than most other shoes. Otherwise, I completely recommend them. |

I always wore socks when my soft pads worked because I didn't have any other choice considering I don't like to be barefoot. I usually wear shoes (they have the words "new balance" embedded on them) for the metal pad because the protrusions and depressions slow me down and are hard on my feet. I thought the depressions on the metal pad hindered my performance, but it is not as bad as the arcade machine pads. _________________

Wow, another weird thread .
Personally, I only play DDR at home with my RedOctane Ignition 3.0 (I think it's the real name...) , so I wear white socks (why white? I only got this colour ). |

pleasedon'thurtme wrote: | Yes, this topic does seem somewhat odd. Maybe people were just curious about whether people usually play with shoes. I have always heard non-metal pads must be played without shoes or stockings. However, there was one event at my university that was supposed to include Dance Dance Revolution where the guy who supplied the metal pads claimed they must to be used without shoes. I had a lot of trouble playing that pad without shoes --I missed a bunch of steps on Centerfold on basic Unless my feet are too tender, I don't see how one could play on that pad shoeless with the depressions. |
Metal pads w/o shoes? That's ludicrous! I used to play in the arcade barefoot.... fun times until you get to Catas... |

Are people actually allowed to play without shoes in the arcade (not that I would actually consider doing it -- just curious)? Whatever happened to "no shoes, no shirt, no service"? _________________

i've been playing at home lately but today i went and played at chelsea piers and unfortunately i had converses on. they weren't so bad until i had this stinging sensation on my pinky toe, and i took my show off to find that i have a partially detached blister on the knuckle of my toe. lesson? don't play in converses. _________________

So after reading so much about the Nike Frees here and on other boards, I decided to get a pair. To my dismay I found out they are no longer making 7.0s! The current lineup has 3 shoes:
Nike Free 5.0 Running Shoe
Nike Free Everyday+ Running Shoe
Nike Free Dynamic TR Training Shoe
Anyone know the difference between these? I'm thinking the training shoe is probably best for DDR, but it's harder to understand the lineup now that they went away from the 1.0 - 10.0 scale. |

Hey guys,
I was wondering, how do the sizes for nike frees 5.0's run? Smaller than normal? Bigger?
In classic vans, im a size 9-9.5 (i can wear both ). Would a size 9.5 frees be all rite?
thanks |

Just bought a pair of Puma Usans.
This should help my footspeed loads. My old shoes were heavy and had a kind of spiky bottom which always got caught on the brackets. The flat bottom and light weight should help in faster 16th streams I hope.
Summer Speedy Mix shouldn't be a problem now. Cant wait to play ITG again. |
