The arrows are laid out in the negative of DDR's, and your brain is used to the arrows on the screen being (from left to right) left down up right; the two lefts/center/two rights layout is messing with you. I sucked at PIU when I tried it too. _________________

oh lol ok ok, see i thought i could do it cause it looked the same but i couldnt read any of it at all
and some guy told me it was harder then ddr, but i mean the first time i played ddr i failed on light too, so i mean it only took a year to beat 10s
so if i play for a year will i be on like the hardest songs and stuff |

Pump It Up isn't mean to be steady and balanced. The X shape is used to allow freedom of movement and throw a lot of energy into your performance. It doesn't take too long to get used to. |

It only takes about 15 songs before you can recognize the patterns just as well as you can with DDR. It's the same as starting Doubles when you're already on heavy. Different patterns. Memorize what the patterns mean and you can play anything within your physical limitations. _________________
