I have a mac (fail) and I want to purchase a cheap windows laptop, think 200 dollars for stepmania and other games only, do you think this is a good idea or does a 200 dollar laptop sound sketchy?

If you get one and it works, then that's that. $200 sounds feasible for a 2-3 year old computer sold on eBay. StepMania is not particularly demanding in terms of processing, but make sure whatever you get meets the minimum specs.

If you plan to play StepMania on keyboard a lot, you might also want a USB keyboard to avoid hammering your laptop's keys.

Despite the fact that this is an old thread, you should have just spent the money on putting parallels or boot camp on your mac. Parallels emulates windows, while Boot Camp actually runs it. If you've got OSX you can use spaces and go back and forth between operating systems with ease.

boot camp even comes with leopard so i have no idea why you'd even bother with getting a poopy windows laptop when you can just get XP.
