stuffmonger and slvrshadow, what designs did you guys use for that because your styles are the ones that I am going for with mine.

I used a modified version of riptide's design for my pad.
http://www.digitaltorque.com/ddrpad/

My pad just has more supports, altered screw arrangement for metal squares, modified corner brackets (but I probably didn't need to alter them in hindsight), a bigger base (to allow for space between pads when I finish the second so I can do doubles), and a different sensor setup.

i used a slightly modified riptide design also.

all i did was use 1x4s instead of 2x4s to cut down on cost, size, and weight

i also used matrix style sensors instead of the screw based ones.

Yeah, mine is quite heavy. I wish I had a scale to weigh it, but it must be around 80 lbs. solid oak hardwood makes up most of it... But that's how it is if you want it to be top grade.

Solid oak?! How much did that cost you?

The sheet of oak cost about $50 and tax, But it's enough to make 2 pads.

The whole pads cost about $175 each for materials, plus tools and not including the extra $350 I just spent for arcade sensors.

Using microswitches there? My pad looks a bit right that right now too, except far more ghetto. I just have 4 screws in the panel and 4 pennies in the arrow well for each panel; I wanted to throw a pad together for a convention and only had a day to make it with absolutely no money lol.

I just checked my pictures; looks like I still haven't gotten around to taking pictures of it, and I haven't played on it since March because I don't really play DDR when I'm alone, but maybe one day!

They work and they're about a buck each. 'nuff said tongue.gif

I just don't like the screws I have to use to mount them in place since they are pretty skinny screws, they break off while screwing in ~_~
Where did you pick them up? I could easily make sheet metal mounts for them. How many cycles are they listed for? If it's over 1 million, they're probably a better bet than matrix sensors for home pads.

You can get them from any reputable arcade parts distributor. Cherry microswitches are the microswitches used in happ pushbuttons, which are essentially the best American buttons you can get.

Here is a good place to buy quality replacement arcade parts (I have bought from him a few times, and can vouch for his wares. http://www.therealbobroberts.net/parts.html#buttons

I'd go with either:
Replacement Cherry Microswitches .187 tabs 10 for $9.00
or:
Replacement Cherry " " .187 tabs w/actuators 10 for $12.50

The ones with the actuators might be better actually since you wouldn't actually be stepping on the switches themselves, and you can adjust the pitch and angle of the actuator to better fit your pad.

You can get a money order from your local post office for less than 50c and mail it to him. Paypal is a scam anyways.

Hello all , here some pictures of my pad :

Before build :

Builded:

and the result after some painting:

i use screws and aluminum foil for the contact [/img]

for the arrows pads , i have used this type of screws :

With these and holes for itch one in the pad a bit larger than the screw head , nothing come under the feets when we play , i can play on it without shoes .

I made a photobucket account just for my pads and stuff. Sensors, frames, etc.

Heres my pad in progress, the arrows so far are fairly sensitive, im putting a metal strip around the sides to make it look professional, along with a handle at the top, and rubber feet thingos:

And with the two arrows placed in the pad:

TheDuke, that looks great! Love that you did your own painting/graphics!

devosbi ... one word DROOL

DF, just visited your new PB acct, that DTR03 looks like it's going to be a really sharp looking pad! can't wait to see one completed E13.gif

Just my plain ol' 2" Blueshark with the back plate taken off so I could attach a bar thumb.gif I've gotten 70 AAA's on this pad so far. I also
passed my first 11 (Charlene, no bar even!) on it when I first
got it back in December, which was a big deal, since I weigh like 800 pounds. E13.gif

SML, Love your arrows lol.

devosbi; your pad is hella pro. Don't stop building stuff.

I added some concept models of the DTR03 frame to that photobucket account; made them two days ago 'cause I can't do any building until I get back home.

Thanks, I had to order a new arrow for my down sensor since the old one snapped clean in half disgust.gif. I was pissed, since the arrow snapped in the most retarded way ever.

Stiiiiill working on it. The metal is burnished with a cup-circular wire brush and coated with acrylic enamel.

Still have to do all of the wiring, mount the bar, trim down the Lexan (it's cut too big) and get the graphics printed.

Tomorrow I'm going to call a sicky and do the wiring. If I work really fast I can finish the pad by the weekend.

You can check out my Facebook album to see the progress of the project. Make sure you check out each pic, I got a little silly with the tags.

If you insist, I will also post pics of my three RO Ignition 3.0's, two Deluxes, and two hax'd Kraft pads.

I WOULD EAT THOSE PANELS WITH CHOCOLATE AND WHIPPED CREAM.

Seriously, those panels look SLICK (in a good way). I hope they keep that look to them.
