No, not on PS3. On actual Blu-ray.
Here's how this works: Blu-ray players can use a modified version of Java 1.3. It shouldn't be hard to do, so what do you think?

Well, this would at least be a better idea than the non-interactive DVD version that just came with a rubber pad that didn't plug into anything.

I kinda thought of it like that. It wouldn't be quite as good as a real console version (30? songs, no unlocks, no special modes), but would sort of serve as an introductory version.

I kinda thought of it like that. It wouldn't be quite as good as a real console version (30? songs, no unlocks, no special modes), but would sort of serve as an introductory version. |
what's the point? if you own a bluray player and are interested in DDR, chances are you have a PS3. If you own a blu ray player and don't have a PS3, chances are you're not interested in gaming at all. See the problem? this game would sell like 10 copies. |

I'm pretty sure he was only giving an example... I'm really sure that everyone knows that SuperNOVA1 and 2 were released for the PS2 and not the PS3... |

He was stating that if anyone was to buy a Blue-Ray player, and they're even slightly interested in gaming at ALL, then they would almost certainly buy a PS3 to do both those tasks for a reasonable price.
Hence, why would you need to make a blue-ray DDR movie-game, when you could simply make a PS3 compatible game on a blue-ray disk.

First of all, that Strawberry Shortcake DDR had me in stitches. I thought that was absolutely adorable.
Now, my pathetic admission - what got me to go out and spend the money on a PS2 and now as many games as I can lay my hands on (and still on the hunt for the perfect pad) was ... the on sale for $10 DVD game with that goofy Roxie. The game itself IS lame, nothing's recorded, you can't score, etc. But it gave me the bug bigtime. I figured if I enjoyed that lame-o thing, I'd have to love the real DDR - and I DO even if I do suck lemons at anything over a 3 footer 
Now, putting that type of game on Blu-Ray financially would not make a bit of sense. Just go look at the price of BR movies, stand alone players and even PS3. And not all PS3 will play PS2 games - the 40gig I was told is not backward compatible.
Blu-Ray may have technically "won" the battle of BR vs. HD-DVD, but that doesn't mean that most people are actually buying - at least not yet.

I don't really see any DDR titles being released on the PS3 in the foreseeable future.
It's just not 1 of those new, cutting edge sort of games.

like suko said, what i meant is that most people who'd be interested in DDR and have a blu ray player would have the PS3 as their blu ray player, since the PS3 is a gaming console and most people who are interested in DDR are gamers.
it's better if they just keep DDR mixes on PS2, since most people own PS2s by now and i expect it to be the longest lasting system since the NES. |
