I see some old bg videos in Hottest Party's stages. Nice throwback. I am inclined to think someone actually listened to a suggestion of mine.

Oh, and:

Hottest Party 2 > Universe 3 (not much lower than HP2) > X

Anyone else notice that this stage is TERRA'd out?

It has the TERRA symbol thing all over it and if you look behind the 'GREAT!' you can see that it's covering the word TERRA. I'm assuming it's a new track, no reason to mess up the whole 'new new NEW' thing HP1 started by bringing back old /crossing over other games garbage!

YES! LAN play! Now when the servers shut down, we don't need to worry about never facing other DDR people again! Holy moly I am happy.

Though I am not liking Emi's new look, the look of the life bar gague, and the look of some graphics here and there but the look doesn't affect gameplay for me too much, as long as it isn't 16-bit, I can deal with the interface.

Justoneuncle, you bypassed word filtering. Wow. It's worth it seeing as Less than Three is now a semi-official DDR song and not just a would-have-been DDR song.

Edit: Note that our prayers have been somewhat answered. Realistic dancing areas.

Looks like the next main series DDR mix will have an Urban theme. This is very interesting compared to the futuristic/technology inspired themes that so many previous mixes boast (no doubt because the electronic J-music integrates well with those themes).

This makes me wonder if this means we'll get a notably more diverse songlist. Probably not, but I would warmly welcome it as long as Konami knows how to find good picks/make good KOs out of other genres (and I'd say they're usually good at that).

And "wtf?" at Emi's costume.

Thank you.

Fire up your Xlink Kais folks, hopefully when whoever sets up the thing find out about this and manages to get a server running or something, we'll have our own little DDR X Xlink thread or something.

I'm with you on the songlist.....the konami gods won't be so kind as to bless us with a nice blend of variety which includes some urban/pop/dance gems!

And I love Emi's new costume. Very lolita~

Afro's...."afro' needs to gtfo though. He looks like a reject Corbin bleu now.

All of these posts and nobody has mentioned DDRUni3's subtle throwbacks to DDR:3rd Mix? The "Select Music" interface seems similar to 3rd Mix's "Jukebox" interface and uses original CD cover art for their respective songs. Also it looks like song lyrics appear during gameplay just like 3rd Mix. I have a hunch that the downloadable songs for Universe 3 will be the better of the songs from 3rd Mix, and if so this will be the first DDR Universe game that I'd buy!

I guess Emi's isn't too bad, just surprised me since it is completely different from her old looks. Emi's hip image is completely gone in this costume (which makes me think this is an alternate). Her anime cut-in in this costume is really cute-looking, though.
Regardless, here's hoping cheerleader and/or old-school Emi returns.

lol Afro looks more like the umpteenth modern symphony composer who can manage everything but his own hair. I'd have to see more Afro pics to see where I stand, though.

Opinions (& trailers after each):

Seriously? X? They kept it? Well, Konami never allows a 3rd for any theme (Max, Extreme, & Supernova. & XBOX DOESN'T COUNT!) Guess it's not based off an arcade like EX2 (basically, a bunch of songs we didn't get in the last game). The urban setting looks....wierd. & for some reason, Afro kinda looks like a captain. I'm not sure about the font for the Perfect & all that, but I do like the new groove meter. Seeing as we're getting TimeHollow, I'd be surprised if we didn't get the other SN2 JP songs. Also, while I dig Emi's costume, the setting makes me think dirty thoughts. Well, depends on what the songlist is. LAN is kinda neat, though I know I won't be using it. I'll still buy it. & please, PLEASE let non-boss songs have Challenge charts again. & of course, I can't wait to hear what Mission Mode will be this time around (under songlist, my most interested area). Trailer

My God, Sense on a Xbox DDR AGAIN?! It's like V on beatmania. I kinda like how the lyrics are shown during the song. & It appears the song "30 Lives" (which should also be on DDRX), which won that song contest is on there & has its own video. Otherwise, meh. Still don't have a 360, so haven't played any of the Universes, so I really can't compare this to the old ones graphic-wise. Trailer

Well, Hottest Party 2 hardly seems to change graphic-wise. Though I'm wondering what that gauge is under the groove meter. & STILL using the stupid dancers?! Though Mii support is going to be interesting. I still need to play the 1st one...Trailer

Wonder when the release date for them will be.

I actually assumed DDRX is going to be an arcade mix. It's a commemorative mix similar to EXTREME, boasts a PS2 home version, features a completely new theme/interface, features the same character models and cut-ins/dance floor concept used in the SuperNOVA series, and plays off the same in-game format that has evolved throughout arcade mixes (most notably the exact same appearance of the dance points meter and song/artist display at the bottom of the screen from SuperNOVA2). And finally, the DDRX trailer features, dare I say it, a person playing on an Arcade DDR machine. HP2 and Uni3's trailers do not, and we all know those two games will be console-only.

Plus...the Japanese really like to use the letter X for major sequels (Super Smash Brothers X, MegaMan X, etc.).
