I've decided rather than purchase a metal pad I'll just build my own. I've seen several posts on here about how to build pads for the PS2. I own an X-Box & will be building the pad for it. Does anyone have any links where I can learn about building one for the X-Box? That said, is the concept the same as for the PS2 pads?

I also have 2 soft pads that I'd like to convert to hard pads. Anybody have any links that'll teach me how to do that?

Thanks! E1.gif

I'd imagine that any tutorials you've seen for the PS2 will work with the Xbox (of course with an xbox controller instead)

I'm not 100% sure, though

yeah, you just have to wire it slightly differently

ps2 -> xbox
X -> A
O -> B
select -> back

other than that, its identical

cut the pad open down the side and fold the top over so you can see what wire goes where on the circuit board(there are a bunch of black strips at the base of it), and mimic that on your metal pad.

read through some the design tutorials(there's an index of them on DancingTofu's website)

That's awesome! Thanks for the help! I've read through the designs of the metal pads and know which one I plan on building.
I've never done this kind of thing before, so any advice that'll help me avoid mistakes?

make it so you can change control boxes between xbox and ps2 incase you have friend come over and bring there ps2s or something... I could make you 2 for about $100 + shipping if interested... they come with the buttons from the arcade machine =D

I wanted to use Stoli's design without the controller at the front of the pad. Personally I don't think I'd need a second control box for the PS2. I have one but don't intend on purchasing any DDR games for it.

What would it cost to have you use Stoli's design and make it a double pad?

I'll try building them and if I run into issues or fail miserably I'll get in contact with you about building me one.

What is that average length of time it takes to build one?

And what are the Sticks you mentioned building?

I used This guide by Stoli and used an Ignition control box (which came with an adapter for the Xbox) so if you find a cheap Ignition, use that control box. It works good.
