Yeah, noobish, but eh. Oh, and none of those weird symbols you find in dictionaries...just say "sounds like" or "rhymes with". -_-

~> Reven-G (is it re-venj or re-ven-jee?)
~> Alterative (does it rhyme with native or narrative?)
~> DXY (dee-ex-why or something else?)
~> Hades (one syllable or two?)
~> Oiwaini (the last word of that long-titled Konoko song)
~> 2MB (tomb or two-em-bee?)
~> Orion (oh-rye-yon or or-yon?)
~> TaQ (tack or something else?)
~> Genom (je-nom or ge-nom?)
~> Tsugaru (is it a silent T?)
~> NGO (en-jee-oh or something else?)

Oh, and don't go all "what's the point?" or "it's pointless" on me, since I know it is. It's for curiousity's sake. E10.gif

Reven-G = REVENGE
DXY! = Dee-ex-why
Alterative rhymes with native
Hades is one syllable.
2MB = two-em-bee
Orion = o-ryan (lol)
Genom - ge-num
Tsugaru- silent T as in Tsunami
NGO = en-gee-oh

That's how I say them.

Hades is an obvious reference to the god of the underworld. It's obviously two syllables. Hay-dees.

It's pronounced Ace. AA is pronounced Double Ace.

Tsugaru = Sue-gah-rue.

* TaQ is pronounced tah-KU. Not Tack. End of story.

* Orion is pronounced oh-ri-oh-n -- let me explain this one, Orion 78 means Orion Naha. Naha is a city in Okinawa where Orion Beer is created. It's Japanese word play, just like .59 and 573. Since Orion is an English loan word, it should be pronounced like the Japanese do: oh-ri-oh-n.

* Tsugaru is pronounced tsu-ga-ru. Tsugaru is a city in Japan famous for the shamisen instrument; coincidentally, this is the stringed instrument that's played throughout the song. Tsugaru (Apple Mix) is so named because there's many apple orchards there.

I'm gonna throw a few more songnames in that I have problems pronouncing, since we seem to be on a roll in this topic:

L'amour et la liberte (I seriously dont know.)
Kakumei (Kah-ku-may or kah-ku-my? though I have also heard other ones..)

You can hear it at the end of the remix.
it sounds like "La-more et lib-air-tay"

Konoko no nanatsu no oiwaini= ko-no-ko no na-na-sue no woy- why- nee (according so someone in my english class)

some people pronounce DXY as "Dixie"

If anyone feels like digging, there's an older thread debating some of these.

The ou sound in L'amour et la liberté is the same as the o sound in who, or at least, this is as close as it gets to the french way to say it.

But for the rest, Zoniku is the closest to the real thing

Remember, folks. With the Japanese language vowels can only be pronounced one way, it can help to understand how words are pronounced.

A = "ah" (like in "ah, ok")
I = "ee" (like in "eek")
U = "ooh" (like in "uber")
E = "eh" (like in "meh")
O = "oh" (like in "oh poopy")

L'amour et la liberté needs to be done with a rolled R's. E10.gif

Say it with a French flourish. The closest I can make here is in text is...

"La-moor eh la lee-bear-tay"

Remember, roll those R's! Haha~ biggrin.gif

-Revenge (regardless of the different ways its spelled)
-Say "alternative". Now, do it again, but forget the "n". Alterative.
-IIDX Bible I believe says its "Deh-ki-shi"
-Two syllables. Reenee has got you covered.
- no clue
-Two Em Bee
-like to constallation. However, I'm changing that. Thanks for the info, rampage.
-Tah-koo. The artist grew up in Germany, where Q is pronounced "koo" I believe.
-Gee-nome. Like the genome project.
-Silent T, sir
-N.G.O.

And yeah, "A" is pronounced "Ace". IIDX Bible again. Amuro says its, "the trump card". Also, in the IIDX video, the jack is holding two Ace cards. I think the connection is pretty obvious.

~> Reven-G (is it re-venj or re-ven-jee?)
I just say "Revenge" as if it's a blanket term for all pseudonym-variants of that word. No one I come across in real life is so nitpicky that they feel compelled to ask me which I am referring to.

~> Alterative (does it rhyme with native or narrative?)
In my mind, I like to stylistically pronounce it as the latter, as in, "al-tare-a-tive", even though it's probably a ridiculous typo. At the time of this writing, I haven't had to say it out loud to anyone for any reason, but if I had to, I'd probably just say Alternative against my better judgement so I don't confuse somebody.

~> DXY (dee-ex-why or something else?)
Usamablackbelt probably has the best explanation for this when he said the IIDX Bible explains it as "deh-ki-shi". I'll still say "dee-ecks-why" out of preference, though. The other way is probably still reciting letters anyhow.

~> Hades (one syllable or two?)
Two Syllables. I would have thought this was obvious, but then again, not everyone has English as their first language. Anyway the word is meant to be pronounced "Hay-dees".

~> Oiwaini (the last word of that long-titled Konoko song)
I read it as "oh-ee-wa-ee-nee". Since virtually no one outside Japan would even bother saying the whole name, I doubt anyone would even get to the last word.

~> 2MB (tomb or two-em-bee?)
I just say "Two Megabyte" since the name is more obviously an inspiration from the general data size of a DDR song file than wordplay. Also, I think "tomb" sounds stupid, and even moreso "two-em-bee".

~> Orion (oh-rye-yon or or-yon?)
I say it the English way ("oh-rie-yuhn"). It's a commonly-known word in the English language, so I find it irrelevant to say it with any other pronunciation.

~> TaQ (tack or something else?)
I used to say "Tack", but I now that I know how it's supposed to be said, I changed it. I think it's more properly meant to be said as "tah-koo".

~> Genom (je-nom or ge-nom?)
"Je-nom"? Who the heck says it like that? It's "jee-nahm".

~> Tsugaru (is it a silent T?)
It is pronounced "tsoo-ga-ru" (while considering the "r" sound in Japanese context). I think the sound you're referring to is actually "ts", and although its function is voiceless, it's not silent. It has to do with completely blocking airflow and then releasing it through the groove (at the tip) of the tounge to pronounce the s more sharply. Doing this doesn't require the voice, thus it's voiceless. For those less-associated with languages that involve this, it goes unnoticed entirely. As such, I end up usually pronouncing it as "soo-ga-ru" (while considering the "r" in Japanese context), being easier to emulate for my English tongue. If you're unsure of what I mean, there is always Wikipedia.

~> NGO (en-jee-oh or something else?)
As with DXY!, I just say the letters, but it could be possible it is meant to be letter-recited in another language like DXY! seems to be.

IIDX (ツーディーエックス) is literally pronounced "tsuu-di-e-kku-su", but I don't think anybody will think any less of you if you call it "two dee ecks", just don't call it "eye eye dee ecks".

And while I'm at it, A is "Ace", and AA is "Double Ace".
