I'll say that you are partially correct. If you never get above light and you don't break a sweat during play, you aren't getting as much out of it than if you went to heavy and played up to your limit. One of my friends lost 70 lbs playing, but he literally started on heavy.

I'd say it probably does. Comparing DDR players I know with non-DDR players, the DDR players are healthier on average (same age).

you could argue because most overweight people over the age of 15 are turned off by the idea of stomping arrows in public. i really don't think weight/fatness has much of an impact on how you play. i met a guy who was 18, 240 pounds, and could pass summer speed mix on expert.
