a few years ago, we were playing ddr max 1 at my friends house. My friend was on a soft pad, and I was just shadowing him on the floor. Then my other friend started to try to join in, and he said "guys, the floors not sensing me!! "
He was being serious, But he was also like 8 years old... _________________

I remember my aunt doing the same thing. We all laughed at her. _________________

Yeah, that's funny cause I just found out the BPM for Max 300 actually is 300 BPM
Anyway, my friends played DDR, one of them calls DDR gay (DDR is not gay ) and stuff like that. They all quit, and I don't know why .Lots of people can call DDR gay and stuff, but it truly is fun and an enjoyable playing experience
One more thing I notice is players playing barefoot, and selfish players that hog the machine.
And bar raping is a term I don't often use, cause you can't ''rape'' the bar and I don't know what started that. I like to say bar hugging, now that makes more sense
I here taunting of DDR all the time, and some people really don't understand the skill and practice behind it, and how fun it is. _________________

Yeah it really isn't very obvious at all cause it scrolls at the same speed of all the other songs... _________________

That's even worse than my friend not knowing that the max combo was 573.
...and he had SDG'd the song. |

No, this was long before SN.
And don't even get me started on that "jumps count as 1 in the combo, just like before 6th mix lol" bullshit. |

I remember those days... when jumps started counting as 2... I wondered if I had been playing the game wrong (cause my combo on songs was higher).
Oh, to add:
For about a good 3 weeks when I first started playing, I thought that stepping on the arrows made the characters dance (I thought it was a dance take off of parappa the rappa)... so stepping right would make the dancer dance well, and stepping badly would well, make the dancer dance poorly.
I didn't find out what 8th or 16th notes were until I started making simfiles... which was after a full year of playing the game.
I actually thought it was against the "rules" to use the bar. I didn't start to think it was ok until I played ITG (which was after playing for over 3 years). I figured out it probably was ok when I tried to play 9s on ITG and I got winded on just one song.
For a while I thought arrows coming down on reverse on extra stage were on "mirror".
And.. just recently... I just found out that "marvelous timing" has existed in normal play since Max 2. (The white flash seen during play).
About 3 months ago, I figured out that Burning Heat was 12th notes instead of off beat 32nds.
The reason why most of this is "stupidity" is that I've been playing steadily for 6 years... |

Translation, please. | See, jumps used to add 2 to your combo (like on Extreme AC), but now, they only count as 1. |

nope, I didn't:
http://www.ddrfreak.com/stepcharts/stepchart.php?song=burningheat&difficulty=Maniac&mode=Single&code=Normal&Submit=Submit
Look at Afronova. That is, unless you think that Afronova jumps at the end are 32nd notes too? I didn't realize they were already thinking of 32nd notes on 3rd mix?
The ddrfreak stepcharts color 12ths and 32nds the same color... ddrfreak step chart uploaders made the mistake of coloring tsugaru's notes green, when in fact, they should be a separate note to reflect the very rare instance of 32nd notes being used in ddr. This mistake also happened when they tried to make stepcharts for ITG charts. Go look at euphoria for example- 64ths were made green too.
If this doesn't sound satisfactory to you, go to your local supernova machine and play burning heat on NOTE then tell me what color comes up. Then, go play afronova on note, and tell me what color comes up at the jumps towards the end. If the jumps in afronova and the runs in burning heat aren't the same color note, I will be surprised. |

I meant the point of his(?) post. What was s/he trying to say? That s/he doesn't like the fact that jumps count as one, or what? |

Sorry to break it to you, but there are no true 12ths in DDR. OLC.ICNH just linked you to it in another thread, and I'll link you to it right here in case you missed it: triplets, lol.
Also, as for your comment about the SN Note skin (which is an awful skin, btw): yeah, the notes are green. That doesn't mean anything. I've played Bag and BH! and Heaven is a '57 Metallic Gray, etc. on SN. Guess what? They're still not true 12ths like they're supposed to be. That's what makes the Note skin so hilariously bad...they made a color for triplets, but there still aren't properly-synced triplets. Go play BH! and hit the notes like evenly-spaced triplets...you won't PA them.

Yeah, I was getting at the fact that it's stupid to not count jumps as 2 in the combo. Not only is it just plain inconsistent with the precedent that 6th Mix had set, but it also stupidly messes with a lot of the step counts that songs previously had. Example: Konami had to do their cheeky self-reference with the 573 combo in Max 300 and LoM. What are they now? 555 and 500. Nice going, idiots. You messed up your own inside joke.
Also: I hate the DDR announcer, but if he must be in there then I damn sure want to hear him say "600 combo!" when I FC Maxx Unlimited. tl;dr: Jumps have two arrows, so they ought to count as 2 in the combo. |

I'll repost what I said there.
"2004".
So, you're telling me that by hitting them "offbeat", you AAAed it, right?
Just curious...
What else is intriguing is, do you know how big 15 ms is? That's smaller than a SN marvelous. So you guys should be "AAAA"ing oni courses if you can decipher a window that small, right? |
